Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

anyway georgiana i did more research and it seems almost or even all of butters calories are from fat

Calorie Counter Database - Free Online Diet Program
Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate

so i should of been more clear and said 99 percent of the calories come from fat

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

My cousin has a butter addiction. She has to snack on it. So she keeps no butter in her house. I always found that weird. But now I know two people who do it.

(how much cream cheese are you limited to on induction?)
The package is always one source for information about what is in it.
Another one that I use all the time is FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal.

The total limit for cheese is 4 oz and Atkins tells us to count 1 carb per ounce.

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

there was the infamous butter eatter who had purple stix and no weight loss as she was having a full stick of butter with splenda and cinnamon as a snack every night according to one of Dr Atkins staff in a Q and A session.

As long as your butter and the rest of your daily eating do not exceed your energy needs for the day you will be fine eating it. Some folk chug EEOL while others eat coconut oil off a spoon

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

I can't eat butter all by itself, but I find that I put liberal amounts on my steaks when broiling. Then I add a teaspoon of worchestershire (sp?) to the butter drippings and use that as my steak sauce. For some reason, this really helps me when I am craving sweets and it also helps raise my fat ratios when I am eating too much lean protein.

All things considered, it is only a problem if you are going way over your caloric needs or if your ratios are way out of wack.

Do me a favor......ask your primary physician this question and videotape his reponse. Then send me the video. I have never seen a human beings head explode on the spot and it would be fun to watch

Have you checked the ingredients of that sauce?
                According to Wikepedia
Lea and Perrins in the USA
Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce in the USA differs from the British recipe. Its ingredients are listed as: vinegar, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, anchovies, water, onions, salt, garlic, tamarind concentrate, cloves, natural flavorings and chili pepper extract. The original British recipe uses malt vinegar while the American version uses distilled white vinegar, giving the British version a slightly deeper flavour. Also, the American version uses high fructose corn syrup while the original British recipe still uses sugar, giving the American version a somewhat sweeter and less spicy taste
I do know that wiki entries are not guaranteed to be accurate, but do check the label, as if it contains sugar that might be what helps you when you are craving sweets
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

Yep I was planning on using some cream cheese and making a little cheese ball with my Worcestershire Sauce until I saw the ingredients. Not allowed.

OP use the links on the board and go through the induction foods lists. You've been referred there several times but you never seem to read them. Not trying to be rude but you will never succeed at this long term if you won't read a couple of basic links so you know what you are doing.

                    this thread is a riot!

eating butter is the wackiest thing i have ever heard

there are far greater problems to have while doing atkins than snacking on butter, count yourself lucky!

i am really struggling with sugar cravings everyday, i wish i craved butter personally

you're free to eat as much of it as you want!

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

Oh man, I just couldn't do that - eat butter au jus.

As a child, my sister used to go to the fridge with a spoon and get a big helping of butter and lick it off the spoon - that was the grossest thing I ever saw

I"ve been freaking out over reading the "soy sauce" replies - I've been using soy sauce. I don't know where I got the idea it was acceptable, but I really feel like I read that it, like red wine vinegar was acceptable.

I got out my bottles of Kikkoman Naturally brewed less sodium soy sauce and can't see a single ingredient on this label that would strike me as a no-no, unless soybeans are not allowed.

"ingredients: Water, wheat, soybeans, salt, lactic acid, sodium benzoate: less than 1/10 of 1% as a preservative.

I find that using this "less sodium" bottle, I end up using more of it than the regular Kikkoman soy sauce, I'm thinking of beginning to measure the use of both. If I use a considerable amount more of it, I might as well go for the regular brand.

Kikkoman naturally brewed soy sauce ingredients:
Water, wheat, soybeans, salt, sodium benzoate: less than 1/10 of 1% as a preservative.

Anyone - "Atkins problems" with these ingredients?

I mix up a tablespoon of mayo and a teaspoon and a half of soy sauce very well and use it to dip raw sliced mushrooms - just the edge of them, as part of my diet on a frequent basis. This "dip" mixture lasts a long time since I just touch the edge of the slice in the dip. I love it - it's almost like a dessert to me.

My idea of makes up "dessert" has undergone a radical change as you can see.

                          Hey - whatever works!

Re: Has anyone just eaten butter alone?

When I'm frying up some eggs or veggies, I will sometimes take a little sliver of butter and pop it into my mouth. It's delicious. I don't think I could eat a whole slice that way, and definitely not lick it off a spoon. That's too much.

Cream cheese is dangerous for me. I could eat the whole darn brick. So I stay away from it.

Thanks for that soy sauce info - that is why I keep checking back at this site - who knows what info in the book has kind of slipped past me or I have understood incorrectly? I was doing fine with the soy sauce but I'm betting that at some point down the line I would fine that it was hurting me and I'd never be able to figure out the source of my problem because I made an incorrect assumption that I'd never question.

I tried mixing mayo with spicy brown mustard instead. A perfect substitute - I won't even miss the soy sauce. Well except for using as one of my ingredients in a slow cooker sauce to flavor up the meat, but I'll recover from the loss.
