Hi, my name is Christina! I am 27 years old and have been overweight my entire life. I lost some weight before I got married in 2007 going to a weight loss clinic and doing lower carb. I kept it off until I got pregnant with my daughter and gained 70 lbs
I started eating low carb again 2/5/10 while waiting for my atkins book to come in. I am currently on chapter 8 and am loving it. I totally can relate to the insulin resistance. I was diagnosed with PCOS prior to having my daughter so I am familiar with difficulty of losing with it. To only complicate things, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year and had a total thyroidectomy. Amazingly, the biopsy showed cancer, but the pathology came back not cancer!! So, I had my thyroid out Dec 15th and January 20th my TSH was drawn and came back severly elevated. My synthroid was not high enough. I knew something was wrong because I put on 15lbs in one month and felt like crap. Soooooo, all this history to say IAM READY for a new WOE!!! I am a RN and have gotten a lot of flack from co-worker's on the "danger" of Atkins... I love the book and so far it has been working for me.
So, I haven't "officially" started induction because I refuse to until I read everything up til that point, but I have cut WAY back on my carbs. I average btwn 20-30 net grams a day. I have lost almost 6lbs in 12 days. I am feeling so much better. I will loose all this weigh and keep it off!!!!!
