  • whey protein shakes.

    I searched the whole forum, but couldn't find a clear answer. So please forgive me for posting again.

    We are planning on buying this bag of whey protein isolates, from Optimum Nutrition. It has about 155 serving.... 24g protein per serving.Optimum Nutrition Whey Gold Standard

    it will be taken with just water, not milk. Also I think its chocolate flavour.

    Question is, can we take 2 serving a day? thats 48g of protein per day besides other protein?

    whey protein : 48 g
    2 eggs : 11g
    Cheese : 16 g

    Total about: 75g protein thats 26% of the total and fat 64% of the total.

    also ... just so you know, wont be eating meat for the next two months almost till April 4th,
    hence the question about whey protein. as cant eat too many eggs and cheese.
    after april 4th ofcourse back to normal protein sources. and less whe protein shakes

    as per this link I calculated the amount of protein per serving... thats 78.9% in each serving.
    Each servng =30.4g of which
    protein =24g
    carb = 3g
    sugar = 1g

      How will adding these high protein shakes to your menus affect your daily ratios?

      On induction we aim for about 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs.
      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          How about fish or tuna at times.
          What I worry about is your nutrients - there are things in meat that your body need - not sure how these shakes will work - I know they dump all kinds of minerals and vits in there - but do people absorb them on the same level they absorb stuff from real food.

          My other concern is that they are very lean - and probably quite sweet so if I drink one of those I get a bloodsugar rush - so I add fat (in the form of cream) to any shake that I make.

          Maybe you can move up the rungs and add things like cottage cheese and nuts and seeds as well?

            add some fat to your shakes if you want to do atkins during this period too. You might want to move to OWL and add some more veggies and maybe the lower rungs like fresh dairy nuts/seeds and maybe fruits to get some natural sources of the vits and minerals you will be missing just using the shakes.

              What kind of cream should I add to the shakes? Sorry, but i really have no clue... the only kind of cheese I know is cheddar and mozerella and the triangle ones that have a picture of a laughing cow on it. And cream, i have no clue at all.

                  Heavy cream... the fluid stuff. It's not a cheese.

                        It is possible to do Atkins, including Induction, without eating meat.

                        Will you eat eggs and cheese?

                          I would also suggest that both you and your friend move to OWL Rung 1 and add more vegetables. That will make it easier to get proper nutrition.

                            actually I wanted to keep off fish and meat during lent, I do eat eggs and cheese... but dont want to eat too much of that either.

                            most likely, will get back on meat... chicken... and add more vegetabes.

                            thanks liv & Georgiana.

                              One of the reasons why I asked about cheese is because whey protein is made from whey (as the name says), which comes from milk... like cheese. So if you are allowing yourself whey protein, then you could just as well allow yourself cheese.
