    started last monday, 12lbs lighter

Started induction on 3/1/10. I weighed 328 pounds. Weighed myself on yesterday, 3/8/10 and was shocked to see the scale read 316! Stepped on and off multiple times just to make sure the reading was correct.

Is this normal? I goto the gym 5 days a week, 30 mins on excercise bike and 30 mins lifting weights. I am ridiculously giddy right now

welcome to ADBB and to Atkins from a former 300+ pounder. Yep that is perfectly normal for superheavyweights.

And way to go getting the mandatory exercise part of your atkins going too.

if you haven't already take your measurements things like neck chest waist hips thighs calves biceps and wrists so you can see the inches of body fat being shed even when the scales don't think you have shed any body fat.

That is wonderful! You deserve to feel giddy. I'm a few days in to my first week and you're keeping my motivating up!

Congratulations! I also started last Monday I'm in the 300s and have lost too. Definitely makes a difference if you have more weight to loose, but either way, it's great motivation. I too was shocked when I got on the scale yesterday! Sounds like you're doing loads of excersize too which is great. Congrats.

Thanks for the support people. It also helps that my wife is going to the gym with me. She is no where near overweight, but she wants to shed a few pounds and get her body toned again. I think she's crazy, but women will be women. We push each other to go.

The exercise part is easy. I'm not in terrible shape, just lazy. Its the not eating whatever I want part thats kinda hard. My appetite is gone now, and I have to force myself to eat and drink water.
