Lost 16 lb in exactly 2 weeks, but ive just gained

  • Lost 16 lb in exactly 2 weeks, but ive just gained

    So i have recently started the Atkins diet has i wasnt able to do any others without failing, im only 16 years. When i first started i was 347lb ive dropped 16lb in 2 weeks, for my introduction i have started walking around alot more as i all i use to do was sit on my pc playing games all day but in 3 days i have gained 4 lb's what am i doing wrong.

    Height: 5ft 7.5
    Start Weight: 24st 11lb
    Current Weight 23st 13lb

    Im not a lover of veg hints why i could never do any other diet i havnt cheated once so i was wondering is this normal? Someone suggested it could be muscle building as i never walk always get lifts everywere. Hope you can help

    Since you're only 16, you shouldn't be doing any of the weight loss phases of Atkins without the knowledge of your pediatrician.

    I figure your parents are involved with your decision, so they should know that no one under 18 should be doing the weight loss phases of Atkins without direct medical supervision. If they don't know this, I hope you will tell them.

    If you're not willing to eat the vegetables, then it's going to be impossible to do Atkins.

    There's ways to get vegetables in your eating ... I suggest working with your parents on how to incorporate them in your eating more.

      Ok then i will have to work on that but my main question was why did i gain 4lb in 3 days.

        I can go up 3-5lbs in a few days. Then it will drop back off over the next few days. Your body can hold water when it starts losing fat. So it's not unusual for your weight to bouce around. As long as you are staying on plan it will come back off. Also if you just recently started walking for exercise your muscles will retain water for a while until they adjust to the new level of activity.

        Can you post a sample of what you eat in a day?

          Breakfast: 2 bacon 2 eggs sometimes sausage instead of bacon.
          Lunch: Burger without the bun and a jumbo sausage
          Tea: a piece of gammon with eggs and a piece of bacon-
          2 pieces of chicken breast with eggs and sausage

          Some times ill drink diet coke, but i mostly drink water im not sure on my water intake though maybe 4/5 pint glasses a day

              Do you know what's in the sausages, that could be a problem. Many have fillers and sugars in them.

                Most British bangers have grains of some kind added to bulk them up (as well as sugar under one of its aliases) so do check labels for the ingredients!!

                F/60 yrs/5ft 5.5" (Though due to collapsing vertebrae I am now only 5'3" - but I refuse to recalculate my BMI )

                  how are your bowels doing? you'd be surprized how much weight can be inside your intestines.

                  did you do any new to you exercise during the days prior to the weight gain? that can cause fluid retention scale weight gain until the body adjusts.

                    Yes i actually walked around 3 miles in 3 days the time i gained the weight was from the 6th to the 9th and i walked on average 1 mile a day to town

                      there you have the answer new to you muscle use adding fluid weight. Brook can gain 5 pounds just changing exercise videos.


                      have you measured to see if you are still shedding inches of body fat?

                        Your menu looks like only meat.
                        There just too much protein, add some fats, atkins is a high fat diet, don't be afraid of the butter.
                        also vegies.. some arnt that bad. fried onions would go well with your meat, also mashed cauliflower is delious

                          Ditto what Amy wrote. What you're doing now is just not Atkins... on Atkins, one eats vegetables.

                          Are you reading the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

                          You probably aren't, from your menu, so I would suggest you get the book and read it. In the meantime, here are some links for you:
