  • Last day on induction!

Today is my last day on induction! I am going to bring my DANDR to work with me and read the OWL part again today. I am excited, I have lost 13 lbs so far and am one lb away from my first minigoal.

Last night my wife and I were both late getting home from work. She stopped and picked up Pizza for her and the girls. I have had a pretty good time about not having any cravings. But she sat right next to me on the coach and ate a piece right next to me. I wanted a slice really bad. I decided I needed to eat, and I was getting really hungry. I went and made 4 eggs scrambled cooked in a lttle extra butter. I felt guilty like I had over eaten because it was around 9pm when I ate them. I woke up this morning and had lost a pound.

    I am very encouraged!

    Great work, Coach
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Could you maybe tell your wife to not eat right in front of you? My hubby never eats treats in front of me out of respect, just as I would never smoke in front of him (he quit).
Also, has your big weight loss peaked her interest in the Atkins WOE?

edit for clarification: I don't smoke, it was just an example.

My wife usually asks me if if I mind, but last night she forgot, I guess. She has no interest in it, but she is supportive of me. She doesn't really need to lose any weight. I am the heavy one.

You can do Atkins for reasons other than weight loss.

And does she think that she will "get away" with eating "junk" for the rest of her life?

This is my journey, I am not going to force it on her if she is happy and healthy with what she does. She's wired differently from me. She eats healthy and in moderation. I am not going to push my WOE on her. She supports my decisions and I support hers.

I wasn't suggesting you push it on her.

Merely pointing out that one can do Atkins for reasons other than weight loss.

                    Re: Last day on induction!

Nice work coach! I hope to follow in your path -- I have a week to go yet for Induction.

We appear to have wives with similar metabolisms as mine also eats in moderation of pretty much whatever she wants as do our kids. Since I am the only overweight person in the house, and the only one who can't eat 3 cookies and save the rest for another day, I don't see a point to trying to force them to fit into my routine. I do try to request meals that I *think* the rest of the family would enjoy, but if my wife chooses to make something different for them, I'm fine with that. Perhaps that's why we've managed to stay together 17 years.

                      12 years married here<----

I was posting and I realized I hadn't eaten my lunch, so I zipped out to the truck and saw no lunch. I hope I didn't leave my lunch on top of my truck and drive off to work. I've done that with coffee cups and shoes before. I zipped out to BK and got 2 burgers with no buns or ketchup. It was like a burger salad with lettuce tomatoe and onion. Even the mayo had a list of ingredients. It was nice to know I could sneak away and get something that was ok to eat in a pinch. I do think in hindsight I should have only gotten one burger, I am full.

Coach and latenight, sounds like you have great marriages, good for you! And coach, congrats on resisting the urge! It will get easier. People can eat whatever around me and it doesn't bother me anymore (been dieting non Atkins for a while). Hubby used to take his "treats" into his home office but doesn't faze me at all anymore. You will like your new self and not want to throw away all your hard work too much!

                              2big, that pizza sounds yuuuummmmy!
Lost 100lbs+ since May '09 with a variety of methods, calorie counting, low fat, low carb (not Atkins strict), zig zagging, etc. Would switch up diet and exercise as I stalled to reboot loss. Prior to Atkins I was about 1000cals/day, exercising fairly hard and NOT losing...so here I am to finish the job.

Prior Atkins dieter with 50lb loss in late '90's
