One more thing. Make sure you are eating enough fat. For those of us that have bought into the "fat is bad" dogma this may be very hard to do at first, but it is absolutely necessary for success. (It's a biological thing.)You should aim for around 65% of your calories from fat, 30% from protein, and 5% from carbs.

        Re: Does it get easier?

Yes it gets much easier but that's not to say you'll never be challenged or get cravings to go off plan again. I know I still have times when I have fight old habits (more mental than physical) especially once a month when hormones get all wonky (if you know what I mean). If you can make it through the occassional challenges the rest is pretty darn easy.

Wow... congrats on your weight loss!
And thanks for the encouragment. As judge Marilyn Milian of people's court (on TV) would say..... I just have to put on my big girl pants and do it.

remember when you are doing atkins if you are truely hungry you can eat any time. After a few days the ketosis appetite suppression will kick in and you will have to force your self to consume food after 6 hours of not eating.

                Re: Does it get easier?

The longer I do this, the easier it gets. It just doesn't even occur to me to eat <insert non legal food here>. I am about 11 months in and am finding it very simple. I love the food - I eat when I am hungry (what a novel idea!). I have gotten accustomed to doing almost all of my own cooking (no more drive-thru!!!!). The extra time it takes me to plan/cook/exercise was hard to get used to the first little while - but I chose to make it a priority - and it is working

How are you doing today, Raina?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                    Re: Does it get easier?

It absolutely gets easier, tomorrow is week 6 for me and just so you know, if you're not prepared, you'll run into problems....I've done very well with cravings, very few if any, but on Saturday I went to my mother in laws for an easter egg hunt. I ate before I went so I would be sure to be satisfied and not be tempted. All was well until I got home at 7:30 that night and didn't have a thing that I wanted to eat....then I get nit picky and very crabby and don't want a salad cause I dont have green peppers, or no chicken cooked and ready...nothing was making me happy.....I had to literallly talk myself down!! Put my big girl britches on and go to Kroger....first time not being prepared this time and will never make that mistake again....the old me would have had a bowl of cereal and started over the next day.
The new me knows this get easier and I need to plan plan plan!!!! Good Luck to you, hang in there whatever you do, fight through it!
