They both have flour and sugar, neither are allowed on induction. Also salt is the 2nd ingredient in both so they are probably really high in sodium. You eat loads of them and your going to be retaining loads of water weight.

Unfortunately as poobears said they do contain non-induction ingredients as well as a lot of salt so I would only eat a little of them if any at all.

Someone did tell me that one make of pork scratchings on sale at Lidl have no rusk/wheat in them so they would be a better bet but I haven't read the labels to check which brand it is.

You can make your own crisp-style snacks so all is not doom and gloom!

Flax crackers : mix equal volumes (flat spoonfuls) of water and ground linseed (flax in USA) and let sit a while to thicken up then place on a baking tray or parchment paper nd press into about 1/8" thick shapes then oven bake or microwave till firm.

Cheese Crackers : take either little squares or piles of grated cheese and spread them out on a tray of parchment paper leaving a fair amount of space as they will spread and microwave of oven bake till spreadout and bubbly.
You can also fry these if you like, and even make large ones to use as taco shells or edible bowls if you drape them over a bowl or lifted up rolling pin (for taco shell shapes) before they stiffen up.
There is a step by step with pictures thread in the recipes section somewhere for those who prefer to get fuller instructions.

You could also make 'pringle-style' ones to think of it too if you can find the right shape to drape small ones over!!

Also do a search for 'Cleochatra' and 'doritos' for some more vegetable ideas for crisps/snacks
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Sorry Sigrino but you should really try the cheese crisps and the flax crackers. I make these often and they are both VERY good.

So can I have them on OWL? And can you be so kind to explain how flour can affect me, is there proof of stalls? as there is a minimal amount of carbs I thought it would still be ok.

Also please tell more about this 'retaining loads of water', as I understand it is temporary, and the water will get out of the system eventually, thus not a big worry... Am I wrong?

First of all, they contain ingredients that are not allowed on Induction.
And no one can say what will or won't happen to you if you decide to eat them anyway.....

Well there is another angle...And i am not saying this is you.....but, They may be a step into falling off the plan. They may become too tempting, since you may be trying to substitute them for a snack you are missing. You may start eating too many, and they may start cravings that lead to more foods that may lead to more trouble. And so on and so on.

Unless you are really in control of cravings, etc, it may be better to stay away. And if you do have Great Willpower...to you.

                My own example
--I LOVE cheesecake, and I have made many, but never to keep at home just for myself. Only for a family gathering, and the leftovers stay at my mom's or sister's house, and I may only take home 1 slice for another day. The cheesecake is 100% legal on Induction, but for me 1 slice leads to 2, and then who knows where that will go...I know where I can fail, and I avoid it. So I still have a piece...but only 1X every month or so, and so it is not sitting around the house tempting me.

I will give you a recipe in a few minutes.

For me, if I eat even the slightest amount of sugar or flour, it kicks off a craving for more that is hard to ignore. This leads to one of two results, either I binge on legal foods, keeping my carbs low but eating far more calories than I need, or I break down and consume something not on plan (like a bowl of cereal. YUM).

While I don't believe that every person on this plan is addicted to carbs like I am, I am learning to accept that I like carbohydrates like an alcoholic like his drink. The only way to avoid falling back into my **** is to avoid sugar and flour altogether -- even in food items that seem to have only the very slightest amount.

                    "Zucchini" Doritos-style chips

The Lighter Side of Low-Carb: Crunch time-- Doritos style chips makes mouths munchier

                    • I have modified it over time as far as shapes and sizes.
                    • I use about 10 oz of zucchini.
                    • Make at least one day ahead of time for best crispness
                    • Do not store in a closed container, they will get less crisp.
                    • I leave them on a baking cooling rack.
                    • Do not use non-fat cheese. I use full fat for best results.
                    • Can be used as a dip chip, or for chicken, tuna salad, egg salad.
                    • I use the Nacho Flavored Popcorn Seasoning, but not all the time. I eat them as well, and usually season the ones I serve to my guests or family. Yes, they like them, too.

Yes - I adapted an idea fromSunnysmile501 and made these

They keep fresh for ages in an airtight container, as I discovered when I found a box that must have been in the car for months and found they still tasted good - my DH wanted a cream cake so I had these just with butter spread on them while drinking my water!!

We did have a member who used to make her own pork crackling by roasting pork skin that she said she bought from Morrison's supermarket really cheaply.

We don't have a Morrison here, and I have never tried to buy pork skin on its own but sometimes I buy belly pork to make my own sausages from and remove the skin and make crackling from it in the oven after scoring it to keep it flattened.

Real pork rinds (called something like 'chiccarones' I think) are made by first boiling them in water then frying them I think.

I totaly get the example with the cheesecake. I love sweets. But this is different, they are quite high in fat, and you can actualy feel the fatt in them. So I think I would have maximum 100g in a day, not regulary.

Plese tell what would you considder too much? I ate Pringle chips like crazy and could eat 1.7 tubes, I confess that is too much, in sense of calories I almost ate dayly amount. But I don't think I would abuse these snacks like that, they are very filling.

I can easily polish off an 8-serving bag of these in a single sitting if I want to because regardless of fat content, they are very light and airy. That would net me several hundred calories and a sodium content off the charts.

If you plan to ignore all the aforementioned advice, I would contend that "too much" will be based on your complete menu for a day. If you are eating the rinds out of habit when you're not really hungry, than you've already exceeded "too much". If you're genuinely hungry, then eat a pack and see if you're full. If, after a week, you don't like the results on the scale, cut out the rinds to see if they made a difference in your efforts. If you have to eat them regardless of the scale result, then good luck finding another diet that works for you. Cheers!
