  • Confused help :(

Hi im on day 2 of induction, i've stocked up on prawns, chicken, salads, veg and tuna oh and eggs.

I'm confused as this is the first time, i am nervous it wont work. in the first 2 weeks do i eat just eggs salad and chicken etc. I have the book but reading it aint sinking in. 20grams of carbs a day seems hard to archieve, i feel the salad is to much carb...nervous im just going to end up not eating cus im to scared too lol

Im 5ft 4, weight 10 stone 10. I don't find it easy to lose weight never have so this is why i am attempting atkins.

I have wii fit, toning belts and eat quite healthy a far bit of the time. With uni work my motivation is slack.

    Any advice would be great.

    Thank you

    Re: Confused help

    Hi Amy,

The rule of thumb that I have learned here is for your veggie carbs to be more than your "other" carbs (whatever other induction-friendly carbs you eat), so feel free to eat you two cups of salad and 1 cup of other veggies (per the induction list).

Don't be afraid to eat. Perhaps you can take a week to practice and learn the ropes, as well as ask all of your questions here. It doesn't take too long to learn if you read here alot and ask for clarity of what you don't understand.

    Welcome to Atkins!

      >>in the first 2 weeks do i eat just eggs salad and chicken etc.>>

If the "etc." is vegetables, then yes. You can eat anything from the Induction food list.

      >> i feel the salad is to much carb>>

Then you should count the carbs using a carb counter so you know exactly what you're getting.

Another cool place for counting is FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal

It is possible with those 20 carbs and quite important. It is actually a lot of veggies to some people. Important nutrients to get it. Just keep working on it. It gets easier when you get used to it.

Don't undereat out of fear. You don't want your body to slip into "starvation mode" and start retaining weight. You need to achieve the balance of eating to satisfy your hunger, no more, no less, and at the same time stick within the induction parameters. After a few days, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. The others have given you good advice.

Upping your current exercise level and drinking lots of water are two great aids.

                Yes, that is good

Don't be afraid of carbs, choose the 'good carbs', like veggies, and just keep them under your limit (20 NET carbs for induction. Net carbs = Total Carbs - fibre).

                You are doing fine!

                    Re: Confused help

Ames did you read the list of ingredients on that food. Fish sticks sounds like trouble food to me.

Why don't you have your cup of tea? It is not forbidden.

If you want to lose milkshakes you have to lose that milk shake for sure. It leans to more poundage. Is that really what you want. Practice kicking your partner. It is good exercise.

The contents in the fish sticks don't look bad 0.1 gram of carb. Also yes i made gaz drink the other milkshake haha.

Tea aint forbidden i thought caffeine was forbidden?

As well as the carb count we need to look at the actual ingredients of any foods we buy, to make sure they are all 'legal' for our phase of Atkins.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Well fell off wagon last night, partner and his brother came round they had chips and brought cocktails round :O i never ate all the chips but i had a sausage and beans. also had pringles :s but had such a good night which makes a change.

Today we went out for a meal i had side salad instead of chips and the nicest rump steak ever!!

Bought an exercise bike ( on it as we speak as the top of the bike holds my laptop perectly ) lol yes im a woman and im a pure multasker haha.

Do feel good though, got alot more energy and feel alot toner then i was (i also use toning belts and wii fit) so all this exercising and atkins i am hoping will have good results.

I do find i often get people saying "you don't need to lose weight your fine etc" which annoys me cus i know in myself when i feel happy with my weight and health. I was told to come off atkins by my blokes parents and brother cus it's "very dangerous" which i believe is so untrue as im feeling great!!

I get that too, and I've had people say that I'm "tiny", even at 20lbs overweight.
