  • Day 13 induction

I just weighed and measured myself and I know I should wait until tomorrow (Day 14) but I couldn't help myself so I did it today.

Over all I have lost 5lbs and 7.25 inches off my body!!! WOW! See now if I had just been going by the scale I would be sort of disappointed but honestly, it lies. I think 5lbs over induction is not bad actually considering I deal with TOM during induction and have started lifting weights this week. I was expecting to GAIN actually like my body always does but it didn't. I can't believe how the inches are melting away! In all honesty what I want is to change clothing sizes and be less fat then to worry about what a scale says! I am so excited!!!!!!!! I haven't been totally perfect either but not in the way of a cheat but mostly just things like having too much cheese one day, a little too many vegetables another, but overall I stayed the course. I am proud of myself! I didn't have any sugar, carbs or things that aren't allowed on induction and watched my sweeteners too. I reduced my sweeteners and caffeine (though I didn't eliminate them) and got aspartame out of my life as much as possible. These are all huge improvements for me and I broke my need to have dessert type things every night. Now I eat a meat and cheese tray at night if I am hungry. I don't have that drive to go eat something sweet. I consider that a huge accomplishment! YAY! I have never had such self-control before with food. Now each thing I decide to eat is a deliberate choice on my part, I am not a slave to cravings. No bingeing (which sort of happened when I was dieting the low fat/low cal way) and no cravings...well except for one: chicken wings. Hahaha. That was more of a want then a craving though and they just sounded GOOD.

I LOVE THIS WOE!!! I am so glad I have done a 14 day induction though (I started out in OWL in January but sort of fell off the wagon in March so I needed to do induction this time around since I never did it earlier). I think I really learned a lot and changed lots of my habits and put myself on a course for success! I think I might just ditch the scale entirely and just use my measuring tape from now on! I am also drinking lots and lots of water, I can't believe how much it helps! I think next week I will move on to OWL and go to 25gms/day and see how I feel. I am actually enjoying and having fun on this journey! No need for willpower. I could do this for a lifetime.

I am so glad you posted this!! I am on Induction too my 2nd week ends on Monday. I haven't noticed the scale moving that much either but this morning I put on a pair of capri's from last summer and almost freaked out. They were WAY too big!! I thought wow...really? So just for fun I tried on a pair that I couldn't even fit into last summer (just to see how much more I needed to lose to wear them) and guess what??? THEY FIT!!!! I even wore them today!!!

It is so true - inches are way better than pounds!!!

      Congrats to you also!!!!

It is great how you can drop sizes without realising it

I totally missed out on wearing one of my favourite too-small outfits on my way down the scale as I didn't think it would fit, and when I did try it on it was too big

              Re: Day 13 induction

Congratulations Michelle!! I am only on day 12 and I am holding out till the 14th. I dont think I will lose much more than the first week since I lost so much, but I feel the same way!! Size and inches matter way more.
Plus, I too, have ZERO cravings! My husband cant believe that I made it through 2 weeks, since every "diet" i try i end up downing ice cream and cookies by day 5!! I dont even think about it, I actually crave jalapenos now, since i made lindas jalapeno poppers. (haha) I still cant fit in clothes I wore last september, But i am wearing pants that were getting too tight in December/January so that is a great start for me!!
You are 100% right, I could eat this way forever, its not forced, and its not a diet, its a woe!

Good luck to you on your journey!!

                Re: Day 13 induction

Oh LoriMarie, I can totally understand about the cravings and pigging out on other diets. I have been there, done that and I had lost 50lbs on another diet in '07 but just couldn't deal with the constant hunger just to maintain my goal weight. My weight kept yo-yoing up and down and I think that is worse than just staying the same. However it was difficult to battle off the cravings everyday. Now they're just GONE. I don't know where they went but I am so happy. I don't get that excessive hunger anymore either. I can get up in the morning and drink some coffee w/cream and go for a run and not feel starved. I mean I will be hungry when I get back but it's not like before - I would get light headed, shaky, my blood sugar would drop - it was not pretty. Back when I was dieting the low fat/low cal way, I would be soo "good" all day until I got home at night and then I just couldn't take the hunger anymore. I would make a day or two and then the hunger would wake me up at night. It was seriously messing with my life! Atkins is actually a way to eat that is sustainable long term. I am not starving myself, I am not leaving out any major food groups, I am moderating my intake of junk and refined carbs and I have so much more energy than I ever thought I would have! I actually woke up at 6:15am this morning and ran 5 miles. I NEVER do that! I run yes, but I never do it until after work since that's when I normally have the energy and time to actually do it. I am just not a morning person persay and today was totally unheard of. I am so excited! I keep feeling like I still need to run when I get home and I don't, its already done! Lol. Silly me.

Also regarding the inches and sizes melting off, I think once I reach my goal size and measurements, I will move up in phases regardless of weight because I will be at the body fat level I want to achieve (between 20-22% is my goal). Then I know I will be truly free of the scale! Then I will just need it to keep an eye on myself as I maintain. I can hardly wait to get there! Yipee!

                    Re: Day 13 induction

Update: I checked my measurements again yesterday (day 15) and lost another .5 inch off all my measurements! Wow!!! I am 2 inches from my goal waist size! Wahoo!!! I finally lost more from my hips and thighs too. Yay!!! I couldn't be happier though the scale still says the exact same! 5 lb lost and yet I keep losing more inches. Weird to me...I'll take it though!
