  • Fat/Protein/Carb ratio

    HI all,
I'm on OWL Rung 1, but may be dipping back down to Induction, since I think I've got off balance already. So I'm doing some finetuning to see where I've gone wrong. (See my post about stress--it may not be my eating, but I want to check anyway.)

I've looked through the book and can't find it, so I'm hoping someone has memorized the beginning ratios of fat to protein to carbs.

    Numbers, anyone?

    Re: Fat/Protein/Carb ratio

There are not fat protein rations in the book. Atkins wanted us to eat with some kind of common sense - not fixated on numbers.
But some of us like numbers. So the number that is thrown around is allegedly based on some instruction given to a researches who wanted to study the diet's impact and those ratios were 65% fat 30 % protein and 5 % carb on induction. BUT this should be ball park numbers and not something we should try to achieve at all. There is not magic in those numbers. Most important is to keep those carbs under control and keep eating food.

If you have trouble in OWL going back to induction may not always be the best. We recommend trying to fix it in owl. So we learn to be level

Thanks, Liv for the post. I'll give OWL Run 1 some more time and attention, then.

I like that phrase, learning to be level. It's got lots of layers to it.
