  • 14 day Induction Completed

I have eventually completed my induction and I'm so bored with food I can't wait to move on.

I didn't actually experience that much weight loss. I lost in the first week but in the second I stayed relatively the same.

Here are my losses for the 2 weeks:

    Weight: 2.5Kg or 5.5lbs Loss

    Waist: 1.5" loss
    Arms: 0.5"
    Leg: 1.5"
    Hip: 1.5"
    Neck: 0.75"
    Chest: 1.5"

    Inches: 7 1/2" loss overall!!

I'm really pleased with the inch loss, but I'm a bit worried about the weight loss. I've only lost 5.5 which means that I'm quite resistant. So it might mean I should stay on induction a bit longer... although I really don't want to. I can easily stay at 20 carbs a day - but I need more variety foods - I can do without nuts completely I don't miss them, but I'd really love a few strawbs or something.

I'm just happy I made it

Congratulations on your results so far!

Regarding moving to OWL, many people discover that they do better when adding more vegetables to their menu... likely because they are getting better nutrition.

If you want more food variety, then you should move to OWL. First rung is 5 net carbs worth of vegetables on top of what you had during Induction. Strawberries only come on Rung 4.

You should also increase your net carb level and find your CCLL. Once you know that number, you will know how many net carbs you can eat while still losing weight. There's no reason to stay at 20.

    20 carbs a day
Have you been counting net carbs or total carbs?

I was counting total carbs to begin with but I'm counting net carbs now.
I'm going to try not to have berries but I really need something to flavour my eggnog and I've given up sweetener. I can't buy the capella flavourings in the uk - and all we have here is vanilla or orange. I can't find a strawberry flavour anywhere, that would be perfect. I'm going to try adding a few more vegetables. I had some homemade salsa the other day.. that was soooo nice.

Well done on your successful 14 days of induction

I would start moving up the OWL carbohydrate ladder rather than hanging around on induction much longer as it will increase your food choices as well as get you started on discovering your CCLL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thank you!! I've started losing again so am happy! I'm just about to change my profile to OWL so excited! Can't believe I've made it - my hubby actually said that we wouldn't eat out for 2 weeks just to make it easier on me (I love curries and can't resist). It was really difficult, but definitely doable.

                Re: 14 day Induction Completed

I think im pretty resistant as well, and as hard as it is (it is for me right now) it always kicks in eventually. Usually takes almost four weeks, then the pounds start melting off! I know if I moved my tushie around more it would be easier, but time is a constraint, and mentally to step in a gym is still scary.
                Im 5'6" and a 1/4

                Weigh 263 since tue april 20th 2010

                week 1- 257.6
                week 2 - 258.8

Ultimate goal I can say 160ish but I dont even know if my body would allow that!

                    Re: 14 day Induction Completed

I usually have eggs in the morning, fried with specially made sausages, omelette, cheese omelete with peppers - however after 2 weeks, eggnog makes a refreshing change especially with ice now the weathers hot. I've decided not to use sweeteners to see how it affects my weight loss. I don't think theres anything wrong with wanting something different occasionally - strawberry because eggnog is like a milkshake - and orange doesn't seem to mix with milky tasting drinks. I've found a vanilla flavouring that doesn't have alcohol so I can try that now.
I've been using cinnamon lately which is a bit gross - my eggnog are far from sweet, even with flavouring, you need sweeteners to make it taste sweet and I'm trying to stay away from that - I don't mind the lack of sweet, I'd just like it to taste of something to cover the saltiness of the egg.

When I was on BFL I used to have protein drinks with whey powder. I didn't have sweetener with that either, but the taste was great - a bit like a bland milkshake which is fine for me. Eggnog as I said tends to have a slight salty tinge to it which is why I like something to flavour it. Plus eggnogs are really quick and easy to make in the morning. I'll expect next week I'll be on to some other 'new' recipe I've found once I've passed the eggnog phase, devilled eggs sound quite nice to try.

If you like pumpkin, you could add some to your shake.

I do like pumpkin, that sounds like a good idea - but how do you add it? Do you cook it first? Also, is it any type of pumpkin, like squash, or butternut squash

Butternut squash isn't an Induction vegetable.

I think Georgiana means canned pumpkin.

                            Yep, I meant "regular" pumpkin.

sandislim, butternut squash would only be allowed in OWL Rung 8. It's considered a starchy vegetable.

Either use canned pumpkin or, if you can't find that, you can buy a whole pumpkin and cook it. I do the latter, since I can't get canned pumpkin in Germany.

Check the labels on tinned pumpkin, sandi, as in UK there are 2 variations with very similar looking labels.
Make sure you buy the one which has only pumpkin in it - not the 'pie filling' version which has other non-Atkins ingredients.
