  • I Must have done something wrong

I must have screwed up somehow or I have a bad scale. Weighed myself before induction. Weighed 160. Fours days later weighed 156...looking good...feeling good...sticking to it. Day six I bought my own scale...a cheap digital at Walmart. Weighed myself and it said 161. I couldn't believe it. I have not had a carb morsel besides lettuce, broccoli, cheese, and slim jims and have kept them under 18 carbs daily.

So, for my question. How do I keep a food diary? I figured it would help me when something like this happens. I did have a diet soda at my brother's b-day party on day four but would one diet soda that I didn't even finish, drank about half a can, do something like this? I'm also going to bring the scale back b/c I stepped on it 3 times in a row today and calibrated it between each time and it was different each time but still high for where I was in this diet plan.

My guess would be the scale change caused the increase--probably just a different calibration. Don't worry too much about the number, just watch to make sure the trend is downward from here on out. Did you take measurements? It might help you to recheck those to see if you are losing inches. Scales can be evil.

As for food diary, I highly recommend Fitday.com. It's pretty easy to use and keeps track of all of your food, activities, weights, and measurements. It's handy to go back and look at what foods/activities might have caused a weight change. If you're still not losing weight, you can then post your food diary here for some of the experts to review.

Not all scales will weigh you the same.

Since you've changed scales, you just need to go with the new weight.

      >> How do I keep a food diary?>>

You can do it on paper or you can do it on-line. Many use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or All Things Food and Diet - FatSecret.

Slim jims aren't really a good choice ... they're very processed, have sugar and lots of sodium. I would find a better snack choice.
