  • Not feeling the shift!!!

Help is this right? I have been on the induction for 5 full days now and i'm not feeling the weight shift or any cravings for carbs. I have been eating easily less than 20g of carbs a day! I have been yo yoing with this diet for a couple of weeks starting monday then having a treat day mid week and then failing on a weekend but now i am determined and have been on the diet for a whole 5 days i am happy and have no sweet cravings at all and i don't want to fail. I keep hearing stories of people losing up to a stone in the first week and i have lost none yet my hunger is decreasing and nothing else Help!!!

    Hi Solitaire

Welcome to our international ADBB family

I would continue eating as you have been, sticking to the allowed list and getting up to 20 net carbs (most of which are from your 3 cups of vegetables) and wait till you have done the full 14 days of induction before worrying about whether you need to alter anything.

As you were already lowcarbing before restarting you might find you do not get that immediate loss that some people get, so try not to second-guess your body but let it work out what is happening and settle into Atkins.

BTW I notice you mentioned people posting they had lost 'up to a stone' in the first week - those would probably be people who were looking to lose well over a hundred pounds, as on the whole people tend to lose between 5% and 10% of their total hoped-for loss in the first 2 weeks.

How much weight are you hoping to lose?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

You should be happy that you are not craving carby foods!

So a few things to work on there
You are not eating enough vegetables. If you do not get nutrients you body may not want to let weight go. So eat all three cups and make sure most of your net carbs come from veggies

Water - you need to drink pleny of water. The more you drink the more you shrink :0

                Supplements - take some everyday
                and
                exercise
                we have challenges starting up

Nope. Undereating and underdrinking water is counter-productive with Atkins.

When you undereat, you put your body in famine mode and it holds on to everything you give it.

When you underdrink, your body will take water from what you are drinking and eating ... leaving nothing to get rid of.

Are you reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?
