Hi I am new here, just wanted to ask a question.....Are spices allowed on induction, ie, chilli powder, cumin, coriander, garam masala?

Hi Audrey, if you refer to the Induction Acceptable Foods list in Chapter 11 of the book, spices are allowed, provided they do not contain added sugar. They do contain carbs and you'll have to count those carbs into your daily carb total.

yes but of most spices you use so little that it hardly adds on your carbcount, so don't worry. :eating

That really depends. I noticed Audrey was specifically asking about chili powder and garam masala, a spice blend used in Indian cooking. Depending on the amount put into the dish and the amount of the dish you eat, those carbs can add up.

It's best to get into the habit of counting everything...that way you won't hit a stall one day and eventually figure out that you were really eating 75 net carbs rather than your CCLL of 45.

Audrey, have you used www.fitday.com to track carbs?
You can enter the quantity of each spice and get the numbers easily.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Thanks

Thanks folks, I think I'll stick to using it as a treat now and again, instead of every night LOL. I've been on this damn diet for a fortnight nearly and only lost about 3 pounds.

I never meant to say she shouldn't count the carbs of spices, I only wanted to say that most of the time you don't use too much of it so they won't take away too many of your 20 allowed carbs, of course she needs to count them :yes
