  • HELP!!

Okay, so here's the deal: I'm going on like a week long road trip with my friend and am really worried about being able to follow induction on the road. With all of those hidden sugars and carbs in restaurant cooking...I'm worried I might order something and it may have something I can't eat on induction. I was thinking of using fitday to create an ideal menu of things I can bring and eat that don't need to be refrigerated (ie canned tuna and my olive oil and vinegar)...and use the restaurants for my veggie supplies...does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much and hope everyone's having a good night!

    Re: HELP!!

    Hey Jenny,
Sounds like a plan! I know that anytime I know something big is coming up and can plan for it I will succeed.
Another thing that helps me is to make up my mind that I WILL stay on program. That way when those little 'voices in my head' start trying to temp me I can say, 'I've already made my decision. So I can't eat that. It's not going to get me to my goal. I've found that the 'head game' can be just as important as the stomach game!
Let us know how your trip goes! If you're near a computer log in for extra support!

    Be well-

Well brekkie should be easy .. Denny's is nation-wide and always open!! :nod Eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.

The canned meats are fine, just limit your sodium since you will riding in the car alot and not exercising and burning off that salt! Drink your water, for sure!!

Salads are available at most fast food places, just skip their dressings and stop and pick up a bottle of HV ranch or something similar .. I do not trust any dressing in a fast food joint!!

          Hi Atkinslegit, :wave

The wonderful thing about Atkins is it's so easy to follow no matter where you go or where you are.

People travel all over the united States, all over the world and have no significant problems staying on course and you won't either!

Most any restaurant will accommodate your wishes, you already know what you can enjoy and what to steer clear of, order steaks, chicken and fish dishes, always ask for your veggies steamed and on the side.

Bring a box of Splenda packets with you and keep a few handy so if you like to sweeten your decaf tea of coffee you'll have the splenda - ask for heavy cream instead of milk or half and half.

Question anything that looks suspicious to you. Be very specific when you order, be polite and firm - remember they want your business, you're the customer.

If you don't see anything on the menu you like, I've found most restaurants are happy to fix something for you that isn't on the menu as long as it's simple, grilled chops, a steak, broiled chicken.

Betty makes an excellent point about dressings - steer clear of them. Ask for a wedge of lemon, the lemon juice and a bit of salt and pepper will suit you just fine.

So relax kiddo, common sense and a little planning means you'll be able to relax, enjoy your trip and your meals without having to worry one bit.

Remember to pack your copy of DANDR!
