FIRST POST - Diet Soda

    Many thanks for the replies - I went ahead and had 2 diet sodas per day the last 3 days (3rd day was today) and did not feel that it triggered any cravings but I don't want to continue based on all your posts. I am working from the 1992 version of the book but am planning to stop by the bookstore to pick up the updated one tomorrow afternoon.

    I was at Target (they were out of the 2002 book) and I noticed sodas made with Splenda...what are your thoughts/recommendations on this?
    Is this acceptable? Also spotted an Atkins Mainteance for Life (I think that is what it was called) book - looked like a cookbook but it was the last one on the stand and it was damaged so I did not buy it. Does any one have this book? If so - what are your thoughts?

    Again - thanks for the responses. I want to not drink or consume the Nutrasweet based on your recommendations so I will wait to hear about the Splenda before I drink any other diet sodas.

    P.S. I weighed myself this AM and the scale was down 3.5 pounds since I started on Thursday. I know it is just water weight but still - I was smiling all day. I don't care if it is water, air, gas (LOL) or fairy dust - the fact is it feels great to have the scale register a smaller number. Skinny clothes - here I come!!!!

      Ideally, it would be best if a person stayed away from soda during the first two weeks of Induction so that they can get as clear an idea of what their metabolic resistance is (page 158 in DANDR).

      Perhaps think in terms of nutrition, and what the soda is actually doing for your body. I know the benefits of water, and the benefits of eating fresh natural foods...but I don't really know of any benefits of drinking soda. :confused

      I have some splenda soda in my fridge that's over a year old now. Quite honestly, I'm so full of all the water I have to drink I don't have room for a soda!
      I thought I'd drink it, but soda makes me think of chips which make me think of how after the chips I wanted something sweet and so on. It feels really good to have that monkey off my back.
