  • Atkins Morning Start Breakfast Bars

I am beginning wk 4 of extended induction. Is it safe to eat the Atkins breakfast bars? I must admit that I am VERY busy at work and there are times I eat 2 for breakfast. They are good and hit the spot. It states on the box there are just 2 net carbs. That sounds too good to be true. Can I continue to eat these in the morning and still lose weight? They DO have quite a bit of fiber in them.

Now that Dr A is gone, the Atkins company still needs a way of making money, so they'll sell them regardless of how good they are. They've even included Atkins products on their online Induction sample meal plan and we're not supposed to eat Atkins bars or any Atkins baked goods on 14-day Induction!

Seriously, STAY AWAY from those bars. Feedback from most say Atkins Advantage bars taste gross, so do the Morning Bars. some like the Endulgence bars, but these contain sugar alcohols and there is still some dispute as to whether we count the carbs on these.

As Iwillbethin suggests, eat a hard-boiled egg or something like leftover chicken from dinner, or those frittata/egg muffins that Pau/Nursey makes or anything but Atkins bars!

You'll thank us for it later

And it is. Unfortunately Atkins Nutritional Approach (ANA) is peddling their goods to pad their pockets first ...

AVOID PROCESSED FOODS, LOW CARB OR NOT.

                    Lee,

My DH had to travel for business for two weeks, since he was in a hotel room without microwave or frig, he ate those Atkins Breakfast Bars, he came home 2 1/2 pounds heavier even though he took walks and ate induction for the rest of his meals. I know it is hard when you are busy at work, but I think all of those bars can cause a stall or a weight gain.

they caused me to stop losing weight... I thought they were great and I liked the taste of them.. I found myself losing control and wanting them all the time... I't kind of made my cravings return..

Well...I'm glad I'm making an impact on some of you folks!! lol

Oh but it's so true though, isn't it?

Lee...glad you are giving them up. It comes down to how pure an Induction you want to do.
On the board here, we know that a pure Induction/Extended Induction by following DANDR, gives the best results. Atkins Nutritionals is contradicting themselves by offering 'Induction Friendly' foods that contain things not on the Acceptable Foods list for Induction.

That just doesn't sit well with most of us here.
I know what an egg will do to my progress, I'm not so sure what a processed bar will do...and I want this darn weight GONE, yanno?

So good choice...you can add them back in when you are on the correct rung, if you so choose. You might be addicted to good fresh foods by then and not want anything processed anymore though.... :joy

Low-carb bars are not permitted on Atkins Induction. Please see this finite list for what is permitted! http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/15-464579.html
