Okay, after telling hubby this story he said I'd better check the package for these Costco bacon wrapped pork loins that I'd thawed out for last night. Pretty basic right? Pork loin and bacon. Well of course it lists glucose. Can this be from the bacon or do you think it's put in there some other way?

Okay, read my pork/bacon package again and it lists the dextrose (not glucose, I wrote that incorrectly) as part of a 'solution'. Does anyone know what's up with that?

Did you know that IHOP mixes pancake batter into their scrambled eggs to make them fluffier? If a resturant doesn't have a low-carb menu, I don't go there and even then you have to be careful, cause a lot of that stuff is not for induction.

WOW! Glad I happened upon your post! I am going to Applebees soon with a girlfriend who is on Weight Watchers. I told her that was fine--I would get a steak and salad! lol...! Any suggestions for a carb free meal at Applebees anyone?

Thats really scary, what about a person that is diabetic and going in and ordering a steak thinking they are getting a steak and not suger injected beef. OMG!!

Oh my god - that would make me soooo pissed. I am never eating at Applebees again. I'd better check outback's site and some of the other restaurants we eat at as well.

Dextrose & glucose are exactly the same thing. I guess the lesson learned here is to carefully read those ingredients.

I am also "happy" to have stumbled across this thread! It actually ticked me off. The nerve of Applebees!! I will NEVER go there again. Now I am paranoid about ALL steak houses. Sheesh...just grill up a side of beef, please!

I would have thought "seasoned" meant salt, pepper, and the usual herbs & spices, not sugar. :/

What an EYE-OPENER! Thank you for posting this, Amy!!

I hate to say it, but you've ALWAYS gotta check your ADBB before you eat somewhere or something new! Way back in July I stumbled upon this post...

                    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ight=applebees

All I needed to know was about 4 posts down. This place is loaded with info, you just have to search for it.

And Yes, I would just be mad as ....something.... if I was eating a steak loaded with garbage. Makes you just want to eat at home, haha..

many stores injecct solutions into the meat to make it look more juicey and to tenderize it. if it doesn't say fresh chcicken, fresh lamb, or fresh pork you know it was injected. Some ground beef has a solution added too. One big clue is look at the FDA nutritional label if the sodium is more then 100 per serving it has been injected!

OMG!!! Well, they are off my list of places to eat. As far as grilled chicken goes, you gotta be careful with that as well. Some places put a sugar solution (or worse) into their chicken to make it "tastier". 2Big is right. Geez.......

Has anyone checked out The Outback Steakhouse yet? Was just wondering. I usually order the house steak special with steamed brocolli and house salad...(minus croutons and cheese)

If anyone has a "Friday's" near them they have an Atkins approved menu. I just checked out Outback's menu and if you go under nutrition info. they list foods for high protein/low carb menu ideas, but no actual info. on actual #'s (prot/carb/fiber). But, atleast they have options.
