I agree! When I started Atkins a couple years ago, I thought the bars would be great snacks while I was going to class/work...WRONG. They are not very tasty! Very "fake" tasting to me.

I looked at the carb content etc. it was 21 i only cut off a piece of it. I threw the rest in the garbage it was so nasty. I didnt even eat the whole piece i cut off YUK!! YUK!! I instead whipped me up some whip cream and sprinkled a hint of cocoa for my fix...lol!

Those things are expensive too i paid 1.29 for it. What a waste of money!!

I just bought some russel stover low carb cookies...there are 2 in a pack, and they were only 60 cents...there is only 1.2 net carbs for the both of them, but they had like 12.something sugar alcohols, so im saving them for when i MUST really have a treat. They are white chocolate with peanut butter filling...ill let you know how they taste when I try them! Has anyone else had these?

Early on, I bought a box of the Morning Start breakfast bars - Cranberry Granola. Wasn't too bad, but not something I'd want more than a bite of, so I used them as treats for my dogs! LOL! I don't think it caused any stalls for them. hehehe

I still don't understand why those things are so expensive! They taste like dried over crap, the are smaller and I would think it takes less to make them...So why do they cost so much.

The Morning Start Apple Crisp and Strawberry Crisp are actually not that bad tasting. Its been mentioned these cause stalls for some. I have been lucky, I have continued to loose while occasionally eating 2-3 a week since moving into OWL.

Just a reminder to anyone on Extended Induction that most of the things mentioned here...the Atkins bars, the breakfast bars, the ice cream, is not allowed on Induction.
You'll need to read the ingredients and add them back in, if you choose to, at the appropriate rung in OWL.

                    That is all...carry on...lol

The Atkins Icecream is yummy. I personally like the strawberry the best. Also in Atkins bars, his reeses cups taste like the real thing. You have to be careful though in buying candies and treats that are low in sugar or no sugar as they use what they call "alcohol sugars" and too much of those will send you down diarrhea lane (sorry) :yikes

But Atkins bars aren't that great and they are high in carbs. Try his bake mixes. I personally like his banana nut loaf mix and pancake mix. His pancake syrup is very watery though.

anyway.. have fun and good luck!!!

Hmmm...I like the Advantage bars. Of course some are better than others, but I can eat them all the time. I don't get why they are so spendy either, but what do I know. Target's trying to get rid of them so they're usually about 97 cents there. Not bad...but Asher's chocolates in PA are the best low carb/sugar-free chocolates I have tried....very yummy!!

The best low carb ice cream is Edy's or Breyer's IMHO!!

                          Confused New Person!!!

                          urplequ:

I've only been doing this for about 2 weeks now and I have a question about products that have, for example, "2 net carbs from sugar". Does this mean that you only count 2g carbs, or would you count the total carbs which on something my finace brought home for me is 8g... It's all a little confusing... Although, I'm at 13lbs so far, so that is very exciting! :joy [/img]

I really didn't like the Advantage bars (they had a bitter aftertaste), but I loved the Endulgence bars and as sugar alcohols don't affect me, I have them around the house in case I need a sweet hit (- which is quite rare thank goodness )

I've tried a LOT of different bars, and I think Balance Carb Well Chocolate Fudge is the best. That's usually what I have for breakfast everyday. Walmart & most stores have them, but I've found that Walgreens has been doing buy-1-get-1-free for at least the past 6 months, so I try to get them there & buy 10-20 at the time.
