  • I have been on the diet for 2 years....

An have lost 50 lbs but am still about 15 lbs over weight. I am working out, but have incorporated carbs into my diet like the book says. Would I lose weight if I went back to the introductory phase. Please help.

Maybe you can give us your stats (height, weight, gender) and tell us a bit more about how long you stayed on induction, your experiences with OWL, your CCL...stuff like that! Probably a good place to start anyways. Oh, welcome aboard! :wave

Hi Stilmatic - I see you're a "newbie" so welcome!

As soon as you get a chance, see if you can get a copy of "Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution" version 2002 - it'll tell you just about everything you need to know, including OWL & CCLL

Also, read the Stickies at the beginning of each forum, and in your case, esp the Induction and afterwards the Ext Induction forums.
There are lots of stickies in the OWL forum too.

          Cheers.

How much did you lose on Induction?

Depending on how much you lost (most people lose 5-10% of total weight they'd like to lose), then you decide if you move onto Extended Induction, or onto OWL.

People with a lot to lose or who are metabolically resistant often opt to stay in Ext Induction.

However, moving to OWL is a good option, esp if you are getting bored with your food choices in OWL and/of if you want to explore more food options - OWL allows you to experiment, find your CCLL (ie your upper carb limits) etc.

You still lose on OWL, and with exercise that would definitely keep going until you are within 5-10lbs of goal weight.

I moved onto OWL but can't lose anymore weight. I am exercising, lifting and watching carbs. Will going back to the intro phase get me back to losing?

                    Ok, first thing's first.

If you can get your stats ie the stuff you gave with your start weight, current and goal weights, height - all into a signature, that way anyone answering any of your posts have more of an idea of how to better answer your question

Secondly, post your menus in the "Review your menu" forum - get it checked out by a mod or some of the other Atkineers will give you suggestions

For exercising, perhaps you could check out the Exercise Challenges forum to see whether what you are doing is enough

Thirdly, are you taking a tape measure and measuring yourself? the circumference of your upper arms, chest, waist, hip/butt, thighs etc

Some of us find that the scales aren't budging, but our clothes are bigger or we lose inches - that's because muscle is more dense ie muscle would take up half the space as the same weight of fat, you know?

I bet you that you've lost of alot of inches and gained lots of muscles

AND adding to my very last post - 20lbs lost on Induction is HEAPS - that would be more than 5-10% of what the average person loses.

It is quite common to stall for as long as you have, esp so close to goal!!! Just ask someone like MotherOfGizmo - I think she said she stalled for 7 months or more!
Even Sadie147 will tell you that it took her 10 months to lose the last 10lbs.

Straight up question, cuz I am not losin inches. Will I lose weight if I go back to square one, because I have strafed a bit from the diet, caffiene, ect. I am not gaining weight but not losing either.

If I go back to the intro will I lose weight??

                        I am 5'7" 177lbs 17yrs male

Post a menu... perhaps something you are eating could be making you stall and you may not realise it
We need to see how many cals you're eating, and your fats/carbs/protein %
I hear about Atkineers who start losing once they move onto OWL - because in comparison, OWL foods often have lower cals than Induction foods and that's one of the factors that help start weightloss

You need to also read more Stickies, buy the book, and listen to the posts/answers our mods make - they have invaluable advice, and just about every question you have, is answered within this board.

i would say redoing induction would give you a kickstart...but make SURE to make it super clean...no frankenfoods, no caffiene, not even splenda...then see if you see results after 2 weeks.
