Hey guys.. i need you guys once again because im slacking now, its summertime and i need some help/advice from you guys.. im 17 and now more than ever i am finding it harder to apply myself for several reasons. there have been so many occasions open to cheating and i have let myself go and i know its wrong but now i know if i cheat and gain weight, i'll lose the next few days but then ill cheat again and gain again and its been the same for almost a month now.. im still at roughly 320. At these functions, people have approached me and said how great i look and they cant believe it how much you can see a difference and everyone wants to talk to me about it and pep talk about depriving myself and how thats bad and with all these opinions, it changes my views so widely. another thing is parties which have taken place at friends houses in the past few weeks, there seem to be parties every day now and ive come to realize how important it is to be there with my friends because im a senior in high school now and ive realized the value of friendship is and with that, my friends drink such things as beer beer beer, which also leads me to cheat and it sounds stupider now when i write it down but i like being able to relax and enjoy myself but is there ANY way i can have that?? its so hard to be at a party and be one of the sober ones becuase its just so much less fun when everyone around you isn't. i need some advice on that as well. i still keep seeing myself at prom in my head and i want it more then ever. i am not your typical 17 year old, i am much more mature and intelligent than your average and i know what i have and what i have going for me, and people can see that. also, does anyone know of ANYWHERE online or offline where i can, or someone else can alter images to show what i might look like at goal because that to me, would be the best motivation in the world. i need you guys for help/support/comfort and just to be there to keep me on track because im losing the ontrackness lately haha sorry for the made up word. thanks guys, your feedback is greatly appreciated -

Re: My entire outlook on Atkins..
First thing's first, try this site http://www.myvirtualmodel.com/mvmhome/jsp/home.jsp?
It doesn't exactly have a picture of YOUR head, but at least you can type in your stats, and have a look at what your body could look like when you reach goal
You're 17, and I remember how hard it was to try and fit in with my mates/peers, and try and be trendy and one of the "in" crowd... as a matter of fact, I think my teen years are the hardest years of my life imo and nothing I can say to you can convince you things will get better as you get older - coz it's something all of us have to go through and find out for ourselves.
Having said that, I have to ask you - what's more important to you right now? Is it looking after yourself and making yourself look better, or is it giving in to peer pressure, not reaching goal and still feeling crap about yourself in a year's time?
I am trying to say this in the gentlest way possible - so please try not to take offense - Atkins WOE IS HARD, but you're not doing yourself any favours by falling off again and again. Every time you cheat, you feel crap and you are no closer to getting goal. Sure you have parties to go to, that's where your friends are, and it's so uncool to stay sober... but as you said, what is the value of your friendships? The friends that are worth keeping aren't the ones who pressure you to drink, esp after you explain to them why and how you are losing the weight. If they do, then they are not worth the friends to take into adulthood. The friends that you do take along to these parties, who help you stick to Atkins, are true friends coz they don't try and sabotage whatever you are doing to improve your self and your self-confidence.
Do you really think the only way you can have fun is by not being sober? Well, keep this picture in your head:
You see a much slimmer YOU, 50, 100lbs less, dressed in a suave black suit, looking hot, sexy, a chick magnet like James Bond - your personality shines through, you look really good in that suit
PICTURE THAT
Every time someone tells you how great you look, write it down someplace, so that you can go back and read it and remind yourself why sticking to Atkins is good.
You've said it yourself - you aren't the typical 17yo - YOU are much more mature, intelligent, knows your own potential that others can see - YOU KNOW THAT
Now, go away, print this out - coz Mister - I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT
Induction IS HARD, sticking to Atkins IS HARD, you may fall off numerous times more after this, but you know what? If you keep trying, keep plugging at this, do Atkins as right as you can do, with as much as this "mature, very intelligent man full of potential" claims he is, then YOU WILL LOSE 30yo F 5'5 (166cm)

Re: My entire outlook on Atkins..
I think you have to be sure this is something you want. There are probably people in all our lives that don't agree with our choice of eating, but that is there opinion. Some of these people will temp you with food and in your case beer. The best advice I can give regarding the food at parties is to not eat what is not on the acceptable food list. Try eating before you leave home and putting a snack in your car or pocket to eat in case you get hungry. Regarding the beer, I know you are having fun and you don't see any harm in it now. I think you can have just as much fun without the beer if you try it. With the beer and food remember the way you want to look at prom and how you want to spend your last year of high school. Keep that in your mind and each time you go to eat something you shouldn't or that beer think how much fun you will have being your goal weight. Only you can do this and you have to do it for yourself.

Re: My entire outlook on Atkins..
someone mentioned the value of friendship ........ if they are true friends they shouldnt even offer you things bad for your way of life , if you are smarter and more mature than the average 17 year old , you probably also know how truly horrible alcohol is for the human mind and body , alcoholism is no joke , i struggled with alcohol in my late teens , glad to say im sober for nearly 6 years now , not one drink , i know the temptation must be awful , but you need to resist
the food cravings are natural , i myself am guilty for a good amount of going off my diet , mostly in the middle of the night when im half asleep and cant reason with myself as well as i can during the day to avoid the binges , you need to ask yourself , what is more important? binging on carbs? or a new healthier you?? , also , what is more important , having a few beers to be like everyone else drinking at a party? , or a sober , and once again , healthier you? , the choice is indeed yours , but i truly hope your answers are that a new healthier you is far more important than some beer or a carb overdose
good luck..27/m HW:285:CW:198:GW:170

Re: My entire outlook on Atkins..
I'm gonna be tough on you.
First of all, it is NOT important, during the summer of your senior year, that you be at a party every day drinking beer. Not only is it illegal (Atkins-wise and also, of course, State law...) but it is not one of those milestone events in your senior year that you will remember forever.
Second of all, you need to face the fact that right now, YOU ARE NOT ON ATKINS. You are on some sort of low-carb diet for a day or so, then you go off, then on again, etc. It's going to hurt your body. It may prevent you from losing the rest of the weight quickly.
Furthermore, if you want to lose the weight for your senior year, you have, what, 2 more months? You can do it. You can be a size or two or three smaller by the time school starts. Which is WAY more fun than partying every day.
Finally, YOU ARE NOT THE VICTIM. You are making DELIBERATE choices to break the rules. This is YOUR responsibility. Which is more important? Being at every party this summer, or taking care of your body so that you will have energy, good looks, and health this year and for the rest of your life? Right now, you are choosing being at every party.
How silly is that? For someone with above average intelligence, THINK about that!!!!! Does that sound very smart? When you stop and think about it, is it worth it? Or does imposing self-discipline, drinking only water, exercising every day, and sticking to the food plan make more sense????
My advice: Choose health and thinness. Do NOT put yourself into situations where you will cheat. DO NOT hang around with people whose idea of a fun summer before senior year is being drunk every day (not the most mature group, I assure you! REAL adults with actual LIVES don't do that!!!) and DO focus on YOU YOU YOU!!!!!!
You can do it! I know you can!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

Re: My entire outlook on Atkins..
Good afternoon,
I am probably not a good person to advise you here. I am just beginning this race myself. I am having some success and I know that atkins will work for me and it will work for you. I am also sad to tell you that atkins will probably be more difficult for you than any of us here because you are 17. You have enough problems just being 17. I am glad to hear you say that you are mature for your age because you are going to have to be. You are going to have to rise above what is going on around you and say to yourself, "I'm not like you guys." You have to be you. Most adult women have friends and support systems in place to assist us. You should be able to find that, but at 17, I think it is difficult. That means that you might have to do it without that system in place. You have us and when you are not with us, you have to remember the things we say. We care about you. I wish you well. Feel free to PM me anytime. I see a lot of people feel the same. Take care.149.8/no weigh/ 119
