    Re: Whooshie Pie?

    Ah, that's a GREAT idea!

I am going to get everything to make the Return of the Whooshie Pie. I like that it has fresh onions and garlic in it. The first one is probably just as delishious, but I am not good at converting powder to real....I am not a good cook as it is! LOL

We can post our results in her if it's cool with you! This is fun, great thread

      Re: Whooshie Pie?

Here's my little cut and paste blurb about Whooshie Pie that I keep on hand.
      Whooshie Pie

'Whooshie Pie' (not it's original name) originated last year when a member made it, ate it, and experienced a weight loss. Whether it was a real phenomenon due to the thermogenic nature of horseradish, or whether it was a fluke, the member had a lot of fun with it..renamed it Whooshie Pie, and the whole concept was born.

This is not a documented miracle food...and if you don't like horseradish or mustard, it'll probably turn your stomach...lol...but if you do, enjoy it! You might have a whooshie, you might not....but at least you'll have had a good Induction Friendly meal.
You can find it on the third page of the Beef recipes up there in the Recipes tab..here's a link:
      http://www.lowcarbrecipes.org/recipe...&category=Beef

      ***my own notes***
We didn't like this...we found the cream cheese and mustard way too overpowering. But I did use the concept to make my own stuffed hamburger pies. For instance I sauteed some beansprouts peppers and water chestnuts in soya sauce, garlic and ginger and used that for stuffing to make a chinese pie.
You can put pizza style fillings in there as well.
      Use your imagination!

I made the Return of Whooshie tonight and it was very tasty. Hubby even ate some. I did forget to put the onions in it though, all that did was save me a few carbs. It was still good though. I don't even think I'll put them in next time.

Wooshie tomorrow?? I don't care, it was a good dinner

Miss Phode, you are HILARIOUS!!!!! hahahahaha

Angseu, I am so glad you thought it was tastey. I can't wait to see if you got a whooshie!

I didn't get a chance to make mine yesterday, unfortunatly. By the time I got home from the store w/ everything to make it, it was already 8:30. Then an hour 15 minutes to make it and let it cool off...I would have eaten at 10:30! LOL I will probably make it tonight though.

Man, that horseradish was a pain in the keyster to find!! Apparently it by the deli meats, not the deli itself, but where they keep the prepackaged ones. They are right by those and the REFRIDGERATED pickles, not the regular ones. I saw the sugars in the prepaired ones and wowie, I got nervous! I am so glad I found the right one//but it smells like feet! LOL

                    Re: Whooshie Pie?

I'd like to try whooshie pie but have a question. Not to sound stupid but my local stores sell either 3oz cream cheese or 8oz cream cheese package. How much cream cheese goes into whooshie pie???? I am thinking probably 8, but that sounds like a lot--and half of the cheese allowed on induction if divided into fourths. How much is a serving anyway.

Generally when they say a 'package' of cream cheese they are referring to the 8 ounce brick.

REally? I tried it and I could taste the horse radish and it was gross! LOL.

Congrats on the whooshie, that is so awesome!!!!!!!

I only eat about 1/8th of the the pie. I didn't lose anything, BUT TOM is due the end of the week and I usually gain by now, so MAYBE just maybe, I lost from the pie, and gained from TOM..keeping me at the same weight! Wishful thinking, huh? LOL

How big of a piece did you eat Mwalsh??

                            Re: Whooshie Pie?

I ate about 1/4. I really didn't taste the horseradish that much. Matter of fact I am thinking of adding a little more next time. It may have helped that I made sure I really drained the horseradish before putting it in. But I am sure that TOM really has a part to do with your experience. Maybe try it when your done.

How much cheese did you use? I only used 6 oz, maybe that's why too....

                                Re: Whooshie Pie?

I used an 8oz block of cream cheese. I was woried at first because the ingredients seem to make a lot (for the middle b/n the meat). At first I was really frustrated because it didn't really want to spread well, so I just ended up using my hands to spread it and that worked out real well and it didn't seem as much anymore. It was messy but worth it!!
