Even though nuts aren't allowed on induction, could I add them in and still lose weight if I made sure my diet still stayed under 20 carbs?

    Re: Nuts?

You might still lose weight...probably would...but you wouldn't be doing Atkins. For long lasting results, it pays to follow the program to the letter. Dr. A had reasons for all his advice.

I'd stay off them until the proper rung. Nuts are also known stallers for many.
    Before and after:

      Re: Nuts?

Sure, you can try anything you like but it isn't technically Atkins and the results are never guaranteed. Why not just move to OWL and go up the rungs while adding to your total allowed net carbs? At least then you would know more about how your body handles certain foods.

By the by, alot of folks on here have named nuts as their stallers so watch out for portions (which are very small) and drink extra water if they are salted.

Nuts are only allowed during the relevant rung on OWL. A definite no no during Induction.

I agree with the other posts. Why don't you move on to OWL? Have you read the book? it explains everything.
What would we do without it?

                Lady,

I am new here (only day 3), but I can tell you from past experience that doing Atkins "your way" will only lead to failure. I am a NUT ADDICT so the first time I did Atkins I added them in and they are so yummy that I ate so many of them that I stopped losing. Plus, they are a familiar snack food and they led to others. Then I fell off the wagon and gained back the 30+ pounds I had lost. I would say to stick with the book because changing the plan was a bad idea in my case.

                    Re: Nuts?

I started eating nuts after my first two weeks on induction. Though I've lost a lot of weight I see now how much they slow down my weight loss. It's WAY too easy to eat too many!!! They are one of my biggest stallers and this is the one thing I struggle with everyday... they are my snack of choice. I have to make myself stay away.
I was confused about whether or not they were allowed on induction myself, I've read that we can't have nuts until after the first 2 weeks of induction... I realize now that didn't mean we can eat nuts after 2 weeks ON induction... it's if you move to OWL after the first two weeks.
lol to so make a long story short - I agree w/ the others, wait until you get to that rung on OWL!!! And even then you might find (like myself) that you can't tolerate them at all...
                    Good luck!

Hey, that is a good idea. I have to fly for conferences for work so maybe I will let myself have that TINY pack they have on Southwest the next time I fly (June). Hopefully, I will have lost enough weight by then to not lop so far over into the aisle!

Why are peanuts like that? They are the only nut I like too. I mean, the others are ok, but I LOVE ME SOME PEANUTS (yes, the grammar is wrong there, but the sentence needed it--the school teacher in me is coming out).
