      Re: Nuts?

I am of the persuasion that nuts are indeed allowed in Extended Induction. There are a few quotes that say beyond 14 days, nuts should be one of the first things added back into the diet.
After the first two weeks of Induction, when you can introduce nuts and seeds into your menus p. 62
      Rule 4 of Induction Rules:
Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks p.83
That said, nuts are big staller for people due to problems of overeating and sometimes the mold or yeast they encourage. You need to be especially
vigilant if you are going to add them back. You may also only have one ounce of them, so if you are going to add them back, pre-portioning them may really really help prevent that.

          Re: Nuts?

It was actually closer to a year of Extended Induction before I ate nuts. I had some blood work done, and it showed I was borderline on Globulin and its ratio to something else. The pro-Atkins doctor convinced me that nuts were acceptable to the Extended Inductionee, but warned me of the same thing -- portion control. Actually he gave me two options: nuts or fish, so I picked the more personally tasty option.
