My name is Dawn, I'm new to this forum, not new to Atkins though. I never thought I would have to lose the weight again, yet here I am.

I lost and kept my weight off for over 8 years. It just goes to show it can happen to the best of us. After dealing with some medical issues, I'm back on track.

However, after losing 25 pounds, not one person has noticed. I know at my height it's hard to tell, but I thought that someone, anyone, OK my husband would have noticed! Nope!

I know it's one of those things - once one person notices, everyone does. I dying for some homespun feedback. Is that so horrible?

    Re: No one noticed

Hugs to you. First off lets realize that your husband sees you everyday so the difference has been gradual that he might not take notice like someone who see you every so often. That is frustrating though for the all the effort we take and not be commended on it. Post your before and during pictures, you will get plenty feedback here. And welcome to the board!

    P.S.) 25 lbs is terrific!

Wow! 25 lbs is great! As Atkid said, people who see you daily might not notice your gradual shrinking. Also, some people might notice but don't want to say anything in case it seems rude or they don't want to seem nosy if they think you've been sick or something. I dunno.

Congrats Jerzaka on the weight loss!!

I agree with what everyone says about not noticing the changes day to day...happened to me.

A short while back, I looked at my hubby and said "you look a lot skinnier, did you lose weight?"

He said he didn't know, and stepped on the scale. He'd lost X number of pounds from the last time he weighed himself...LOL (he wasn't even trying to lose )

            Re: No one noticed

You're all very sweet. Thanks for the encouragement and applause! I honestly needed it!

Yes, my clothes are far more comfortable. I must be honest though, they were a bit snug before beginning. As my weight continued to climb, I refused to buy anything but sweat pants. I simply wouldn't put the money into clothes that I didn't even want to leave the house in. Sad, but true.

I wish I had found this forum earlier. It's been a life saver for me. No one I know follows this diet. I followed it for a long time and felt my best on it. I never knew exactly how to explain to people how "level" it made me feel. They simply never got "it". In fact, I got a lot of slack whenever I told people I was on this diet, so I began to keep my mouth shut. Then came the Atkins craze! What a mess that was. Then all those same people wanted to do it, but really had no clue.

Well, now I feel like I'm one of those people. I'm including my Fitday menu, if you'd like to comment. That in itself was a huge find! I didn't start using the Fitday until I saw it here, so when/if you see a weight difference, that's why.

On one hand, I need the affirmation, but on the other, it makes me want to lose it even more. 'Ya know?

Hey, if one person noticed the 25 pounds...it is just the beginning!! That means as you lose the next five or ten pounds EVERYONE will start to notice and the compliments will start coming in more and more...and that will probably motivate you even more!!

Give it another five pounds!!! You can do it!! The compliments will be so nice!!

Congrats Dawn on your 25 pound loss!! Don't let someone not noticing get you down *hug* You're doing wonderfully, obviously!
I've lost almost 40lbs now and no one has noticed with me...but I'm not letting it bother me. Just keep your head up, you're doing great!
Another thing to keep in mind, if people see you everyday...it's really hard to notice you've lost anything, ya know? So just give it time.

                  Re: No one noticed

No one didn't say anything to me until I lost 40 pounds! Sometimes people are afraid to say anything because 1. they don't know you are purposely trying to lose weight, 2. they think you might be ill and don't want to say anything, 3. they just don't know how to compliment you or when the time is right to compliment you.

Just keep on keeping on. You're doing a good job and your toughest critic is usually yourself.

Took me at least 35 pounds before anyone noticed. Hang in there and the comments will start flowing in soon.

i haven't noticed much with the tape measure, but im certain my jeans keep falling off. those were the only pants i was wearing that didnt have an elastic, so they're the only way i really notice

I'm so glad I read this one! I'm in the same boat you are. We are even the same height and lost just about the the same amount from almost the same starting weight! And, much like you, NO ONE has even noticed! Just know you aren't alone. I have noticed on myself only a little. Maybe because we are on the shorter side 25lbs doesn't make a huge difference? Who knows! I'm with you though and I'm sure even if no one notices you probably feel and look ten times better! Keep with it! I'm sure in a few weeks everyone will be saying to us MAN! You lost a LOT of weight! You look GREAT! Keep with it and good luck!

Thanks for all of your support! It's nice to know other people are out there rooting for me. This is the best I've felt in a long time. That in itself is the true reward.

You're right, Cassi, we do have very similar stats going here. It'll be fun to see how we both progress!

I remember someone writing that they had such success so fast, people in his office thought he was sick with cancer or something similar and went to his boss to ask about his health instead of complimenting him on his weightloss.

                            25!! You are doing great!

It wasn't until a 2 week absence from work did people comment on my weight loss when I returned. But I knew all along I was doing ok because my clothes were MUCH more comfortable. Hang in there!
