  • Stalled in Thailand..... :-/

    Hey.

    I need some advice.

I'm staying in thailand this month and for the most part have had no problem staying on Atkins.

For the first 1.5 weeks I was here I lost another 2" off my waist. It was loosing about .25" a day!

Now I've stalled. I haven't lost *anything* for a week now.

I've been on a extended induction where I've added only dairy in the form of my morning latte. The only other thing I've added is coconut once or twice because its EVERYWHERE here.... This is only in the form of sauces so not very much.

Anyway.. for the last few day I've tried to be more strict. Tried to remove anything from my diet which might be stalling me without much success.

The one thing in the back of my mind though was that last time around I think I stalled at 34" too. It might just be that my body needs some time to think at 34"... I've lost 4.5" off my waist so that might make sense but I'm still nervous.

The other thing I'm worried about is that I'm pretty sure I've had some extra carbs jump in and maybe some Aspartame since I can't read the ingredients on the gum here. I think the carbs jumped in in the form of hidden breading in fish and maybe the sauce on some prawns. This has ony been a few times though but not sure if it could have pushed me out of induction.

Normally though my cravings are under control and I don't eat very much. Three meals a day and they are small....

Anyway..... do you guys have any advice?

Should I go through a round of strict atkins again? Stick it out for another week? Try to cut out my latte?

    hi kevin
Im amazed that you're finding sauces without sugar in them, as far as I remember eeeeeeeeeeeeverything had sugar in it!

are you being extra good with your water? I was thinking you might need extra since you must be sweating so much there

im sorry you're stalling... what week are you on? could it be just the regular slowing that happens around weeks 3-4?

try to hang on, one week is a very short time... i happens often that people will slow down, and then get a whooosh all of a sudden...

I'm going to hold on of course........ I'm not going to get frustrated until I hit about 2 weeks...... its a very short time to be thin the rest of my life.

I'm not having any sauces really... I'm trying to avoid them as much as possible. This means having BBQ prawns, garlic prawns, etc.

I also try to get salad every once in a while with eggs and so forth......

For the most part I think I'm doing OK but with ALL the variables now with being in a new country I'm a bit concerned.

Anyway........ also think I'm getting plenty of water... thats the only thinkg I do here is drink water 24/7

Seems like you are doing fine, Kevin

Remember that a stall is defined as 4 weeks of no pounds or inches lost!

Just keep up the good work you are doing by avoiding foods you cant tell what its in them!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

good strategy! I wouldnt have thought of the BBQ shrimp...
when I was there I decided to eat whatever I wanted, and I knew I was gonna start atkins (for the 1st time) as soon as I got off the plane. so, I hit my highest weight while I was there... not great for all the photo ops!

a friend of mine went to Thailand right after I did, and she was doing atkins... I remember thinking that must have been hard, trying to find cheese everywhere... lots of canned sardines..

I do remember loving the BBQ chicken they sell on the street, or even the BBQ squid... nummmmm

I'm a bit scared of the stuff they sell on the street actually. It doesn't look very sterile or sanitary. I guess its cooked so it can't be TOO bad... I've already had food poisoning here so maybe my gut can take the local bacteria now...

Still a bit scared though.. ha.

            We'll see...
