  • Cheating...

So today is day 14 of induction, and I've lost a TOTAL of 3 lbs. I have been craving frozen yougurt because it's been really hot since day one. I'm finally caving. I'm eating the frozen yougurt tonight and starting back up tomorrow 100% using fit day to track EVERYTHING. I have 3.5 wks until the cruise and I'd LOVE to be below 180. That's eight lbs. Well see if cheating and restarting induction will jump start this again.

Why do you want to cheat and then restart?

      Re: Cheating...

Well, I don't think that I have been sticking to Atkins as strictly as I should which may be part of the reason by I'm not seeing anything on the scale. But also, my entire life I have been unable to lose weight, even when on diets that were given to me by a doctor, so I want to restart with the Fat Fast for three days and then move into induction using FitDay every day to measure everything. I feel like this was a good dry run of it, but obviously I'm doing something wrong so I'm going to get my cravings out of my system and give it another go starting with the fat fast to try to break through my life long struggle of not being able to lose.

The fat fast is for people who haven't lost any weight. I thought you said you lost 3 pounds during induction? ?

Without being crude, I could lose 3 lbs by taking a large bathroom break. It wasn't real weight.

            Re: Cheating...

If you haven't lost as much as you want, why on earth are you going to eat something that could possibly screw you up and delay even more fat-burning? To each his own, but isn't that the total opposite thing you should be doing? I agree with tracking everything in fitday, but why not leave out the frozen yogurt binge and just start tracking NOW?

Phode is right, the fat fast is for those who are metabolically resistant, those who CAN'T lose weight by doing induction. If you've lost 3 pounds, you're not metabolically resistant. During induction you're supposed to lose 5-10% of total weight that you'd like to lose. 3 pounds is about 8%, which means you're right on target. You didn't put all of the weight on in two weeks, don't expect for it to come off in two weeks.

              Re: Cheating...

If you feel that you haven't followed the rules of induction to the letter, then the fat fast definitely is not recommended. This is a drastic measure that can do more harm than good to your metabolism.

Do you really think cheating is the best thing to do? Deep down I think you're using a 3lb loss as rationale for giving in to the carb laden foods...and if you really wanted to you wouldn't have posted here about it...you would have just done it...you're essentially turning success into failure

I want to see you become a shining success and lose all of the weight you want to. To that end, I caution you to not go on the fat fast quite yet as you said yourself you didnt follow induction strictly...go back, read the rules of induction and give it another go following the rules to a T and you may just see the numbers you're wanting. Perhaps you need to stop and reassess the reasons you're on Atkins. Are you here to give it a genuine effort or are you just looking for a quick fix? As I said in your other post, there's no such thing...you have to be ready for the long haul and be 100% commited to make this a way of life.

Wishing you the best of luck!

OK, by eating sugar, you probably won't be "getting your cravings out of your system." Ask anyone on here who has restarted--they'll tell you that one cookie, or one piece of cake, or one roll didn't make their cravings disappear, it only intensified them.

I would like to see you succeed, and it's all up to you to make it happen. I've seen a lot of posts by you, but have not read all of them...have you posted menus yet? How much do you exercise? How much water do you drink per day? Have you taken measurements? ADBB is here to help you.

Ditto what the others said... and I'd add that more often than not, those who do the fat fast, without being a suitable "candidate" for it, find that they regain the weight they lose on it and more very quickly after stopping it... so they get the opposite of the result they'd like.

Snuggles stop, re-think, re-plan. Fast foward to after you eat the frozen yogurt. The few minutes it will take to eat the yogurt will result in a small taste satisfaction, but nothing else. This is the time to be strong. If you dont think you did a clean induction why not start right now? Have a great dinner and drink a bunch of water and then go for a walk or do an activity. Since you are planning to go off, I think you could plan to stay on instead. And 3 lbs is 3 lbs. I lost less than 3 lbs during my induction. But I stuck with it and I am SO HAPPY I did. Re-think!!!!!!

                          What is a fat fast?

I know I'm new here but I think you shouldn't give up so quickly. give yourself a time to see results. I waited 6 weeks to weigh in and "only" lost 14 pounds...that was 4 weeks ago, now I'm looking forward to losing 14 pounds!!!!

                            STOP DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Snuggles please listen to all the good advice you've been given here, cheating is not going to solve the problem...believe me I have a good friend who thought she would cheat and restart as she didn't think she was losing enough...well she cheated and cheated and hasn't restarted!

If as you say you didn't follow induction properly then that is where you should start...at INDUCTION! No point in setting yourself up for failure by cheating and undo all the good work you have done so far! 3lbs is after all 3lbs!! It means you weigh less than you did when you started and you're heading in the right direction!

Well, I cheated. It was actually a really good experience. I ate all the foods I had been craving for the past two or three weeks and I discovered that they didn't taste as good as I wanted them to! The chocolate was a little too sweet and overwhelming, the rice and beans in a burrito immediately gave me a tummy ache-although the pretzel was pretty damn good. Either way I jumped right back on it the next day and I have a little more motivation because of the cheat.
