Re: Question: How long have you been doing induction?

Well, I'm doing good on the veggie rung so far. I am expanding my repertoire - have discovered the "Jicama" that I've seen people writing about on this site, and it is very good. Good crispy texture and a sweetness that surprised me. Loads of fiber too!

I remember reading in the book that you should stay a minimum of one week at each rung, but can hang out as long as you want to after that.

With as much as I still have to lose, I think I'll hang out at each rung for a few weeks at LEAST. Take it nice and steady.

Thank you DiscoLemonade for encouraging me to start this process - it really has given me a boost in enthusiasm - kind of refreshing after eating the same way for two months!

Re: Question: How long have you been doing induction?

      Time to move on Will!!

Bu: I do 2 weeks on each rung to make sure theres no reaction. You should only try new foods about 3 times a week the first week then everyday after that. You also go up 5g carbs when you go up a rung. I was sloppy with my NC but I am up to around 45-50g carbs and still experiencing losses. I am on rung 4 and hate berries so I had cantaloupe. It made me feel hungry within an hour so I know it may be a trigger food for me. I will try it again and pair it with something fatty like cheese chunks and see if that's any better before I cancel the lovely melon out.

Wendy! thats so great!! I'm glad you are enjoying your new food options! Be sure and look for trigger foods!

Re: Question: How long have you been doing induction?

          Hello all,

The encouraging words here are really helpful. I started induction on July 2, and have probably been flip flopping in the 10 pound range loss since then. I didn't have a scale for the first two weeks, so I don't know what original weight was, so when I got one, I was about 205 pounds. Currently, I am about 197 and the lowest I have been is 195 in the last two and half almost months. My goal is to get to 135/140.

For the most part, I have been really good. I have given up diet coke, which was my morning pick me up and the only soda I have had has been an occasional Hansen's no carb/no sugar (w/splenda) soda. That hasn't been too often either. I drink tons of water all day long. I am taking L-Carnitine, Q-10, Omega 3's after reading the chapter on metabolic resistance. I've pretty much kept my carbs at 20 grams or less every day. In the last two and half months, I have had probably 4 or 5 days where I didn't count carbs, due to a special monthly dinner party where I tried a little of everything (but didn't go crazy), went camping and tried a little of everything (again, not going super crazy, but more than usual) and last Sunday, where I broke down and had a piece of toast and hashbrowns with breakfast. After each cheat, I went back to strict diet. I found my biggest weight loss jump was after the camping trip, which was weird to me. Other than those cheat days, it's been hard to give up going out for drinks with my friends, so when I do, which I scaled back tons from several nights a week, to only one or two nights a week, I only drink vodka and club soda.

As far as excercise, I need to step that up. But my job is not really sedentary, I am in and out of the car all day, standing and walking all day long, so I am sure that helps a little.

So, I ask you wise people, what am I doing wrong? Should I move to OWL or stay in extended induction? My BF is doing this with me, has lost about 25 pounds, his job is in construction, so he's more active than me, and he does excercise a little more than I do. I also know that men and women are different, so I don't really let that discourage me. I just wish that I could see a more than 10 pound loss after all this time considering that I am doing my very best, compared to other diets in the past in following this program.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Question: How long have you been doing induction?

I vote for - Move to OWL!!

It might boost your weightloss as it has for many members here, and if nothing else it means you having more food options so you are less likely to fall off the plan due to getting bored with the menus allowed on induction.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

well, I'm probably the worst person to be asking this, LOL, but I have had my coffee the whole time. I am going to quit the coffee if I don't lose any more weight soon. It is a KNOWN staller so do whats right for YOUR body. Try a week without it if you find you aren't losing. If the losses pick up then you know it's stalling you.

                    I know I know, our beloved coffee....mourn the coffee.....lol

Re: Question: How long have you been doing induction?

I am wondering about OWL. I am on my fifth week of Induction, and have lost 10 pounds (with 25 to go). Putting up with TOM at the moment, but once 'he's' gone, I am considering starting to add more leafy greens. I am just worried about getting less strict because my weight loss is very slow. I am not even sure I am actively losing right now, and don't want to jeopardize anything.

                      Experiences, anyone?

You will go up to 30g of carbs for 2 weeks on rung 1 adding 5g net carbs of veggies Deek Deek. Then up to 35 on rung 2 etc etc
