  • Too much water?? and a few other q's

Ok first a lil background...back in 2000 I was on Atkins and wet from 338 to 220 and stayed there for a few years. I slowly started to gain a lil back but leveled off between 245-250 up until about a year and a half ago when I was seriously injured my back. Well 6 months of Percocet and lil activty and I booloned up to about 295-300. After surgury the second time. # weeks of PT and they said I was fine . Well to make a long story short I peeked back up to 318 At which point I know I had to do something. Having my father pass away at 67 was the final straw. Well I have been in induction about 3 or so weeks. I am about 290 somthing now. I just started (this is day 5) hitting the gym everyday and I am feeling much better. My question is water intake. I own my own resturant and I consume an easy 12-15 20oz glasses of water a day. I went into keytosis pretty easy, and on Sundays when my water intake is a bit less maybe 8-9 glasses the strips are almost black. When I drink a lot of water they turn a med purple. I try to limit salt intake, but I feel like I might be drinking too much if that is possible????? My workout are 20 min cardio, 20 free weights then 20 min in wet sauna..6- 7 days a week. So I am sweating a LOT! I am hoping the exercise will speed up the weight loss too. Does anyone else take apple cider viniger pills??? anyway thanks for reading this and any help would be great.

I heard water disolutes(SP?) them. Sauna wont do nothing because right when you start drinking water again you will gain it all back. Yes excercise will deffintly increase your weight loss. Got a good routine going keep it up!

You're talking about something called "water intoxication" - it's also called hyponatremia. If you're not suffering the symptoms of hyponatremia, you're not drinking too much water.

      Symptoms of Hyponatremia:

      Fatigue
      Lightheadedness
      Weakness
      Cramping
      Weight gain
      Nausea
      Bloating and/or swelling
      Dizziness
      Headache
      Confusion
      Fainting
      Disorientation
      Seizures (severe cases)
      Coma (severe cases)

As you can see, the symptoms aren't mild and they aren't pretty.

Generally speaking, you'd have to drink a *lot* of water in a very short amount of time before you have an issue.

Moving this thread to the 'extended induction' forum as you are no longer on your first 14 days induction period.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
