:yikes Woa! I could just bawl.

I weighed in week 4 and nada... not a single # I was so...... HUNGRY!!!
There is an evil empire kryspy cream store blocks from my house. I drove past it today on my way to the grocery store and stayed CLEAN ON INDUCTION...

I think the tears are about the break through of not giving up on MYSELF, ONE MORE TIME.

Thanks for your support. and notes from those who've gone before me about plataues & the non linear loss of wt.

I will also re-read and fine tune.

Induct. says Cheeses and blank can cause metabolic resistance should I ditch the cheeses? Mayo is On acceptable foods list but contains sugars too whats up with that?

I am stickin to my :guns GUNS!
    I HAVE MADE A DECISION
    I AM GONNA DO THIS!!!!
I am gonna push myself harder on the treadmill!!!

hangin' in there. All of ya'll too.

I had rapid loss in the first 3 weeks and its slowin down...
I am gonna turn up the heat in this fat burning furnace :icondance

        Hey all!

I haven't checked in in a while. Things are going well. The latest is that I have lost 35#. the first 25 came off in the first month next I seemed to platue. I studied ha hard and took the suggestion to Cut out creme cheese. I stuck at platue for another week. I had an up coming dental surgery so Knowing I was gonna be eating soup and nothing but for 4-5 days after I chose the two days before to throw myself a Carbo loading party. Uniformly I took care of all my cravings, peanutbutter sandwitches with my homemade strawberry freezer jam. krespy kremes, spaghetti, pizza. My energy level crashed and I felt week and lethargic. It is very obvious to me that I have a strong allergy to gluten or wheat. not only does it make me fat but it robs me of energy. I healed from dental surgery on soups mostly 2 days then back to induction phase. This time completly clean for 2 weeks. My energy shot back up on the 3rd day of induction. I don't indulge in cravings as they arise for carb rich foods because now I am conditioned with the knowing that My energy will fall for 3 or 4 days if I eat it. recomitting to this way of life. I lost another 10 # in about 10 days and I feel great! My goal is to lose 30 more pounds of fat which would put my weight at 180# with strength conditioning and upper body building 190 may be a healthier frame for my 5'11 broad shouldered body. We will have to fine tune when we get there. I am feeling so confident that It is allready on the way and Thanks so much to all of you for your support. when I feel like acting out (carbo partying) I read this board and e-diet success stories. I catch myself noticing triggers for emotional eating and call a friend in recovery with eating disorders to share ups and downs and it really helps. If your new hang in there. Weight loss happens quick, quick and slow as molasses on a January morning sometimes but don't give up and eat the molasses moments. Too much sugar! :yikes

Do your thing, beautiful people I believe in you and me

            You are most welcome!

I myself have been hovering around the same weight for quite some time...like 5 months, actually :yikes so I have to take my own advice and remember that sooner or later my body will catch up to me if I'm eating properly and exercising regularly.

It's all about patience, diligence, and ...well..patience. :yes

                  weight loos graph

Just to suplement the thread. I have been tracking my weightloss and have made this graph of my first 127 days on extended induktion. I knew my start weight and I brought a scale after 38 days on the diet. I have seen all the posts about not using the scales every day etc etc. But this graph hangs on my frigde and I make a new version every time there has been a change. It helps me to hang on. (and makes my frigde looks real nice :yikes ).
As you can see there are some bumps on the graph, but strangely enough, the bumps are not there the 2 times I did break the diet( both where nights out with the boys, lots of chilli con cane and beer and all the trimmings). Planning the breaks makes it much more easy to stick to it the rest of the time.
Next time I go berserk is on 28/5. big bday with lots of everything and I am going til have bread for breakfeast the next morning. Of course as punisment I have to swim 4 times the week after, but you give and you take.

Something we hear again and again at ADBB from newbies is concern about the rate at which they lose. We see worried people posting about how they lost X many pounds the first week, and didn't lose, (or lost very little) the second week, maybe even went up a few during the second or third week, and then nothing at all happened for a while.

                      Normal.

It's all normal, and most of us here have our own stories about this. Most people will have a good little whoosh of water weight come off in the first week and then it's as if your body needs to pause and take stock of the situation during the second week. This is why we recommend strongly that people stay off the scale until day 14.
After that initial two weeks, there may or may not be another little pause, but rest assured, if you are following the Rules of Induction, and eating the proper amounts from the Acceptable Foods list, you will no doubt lose weight.

Weight can and will bobble around day to day before it truly comes off...and this is true for any stage of weight loss. It'd be terrific if we could bank on losing x amount every day, but that's just not how it works. Some days you'll be down, some days you can be up a little. It can depend on all sorts of things...for example the amount of sodium you ate the previous day, and in the case of women, it could be TOM messing around with you.
Don't sweat the day to day fluctuations. There's just no point to it. Set a day to weigh in, journal what the number is, and then put the scale away. At the end of each month, evaluate your progress, and check yourself to see if you're sticking to the Rules.

In the beginning of Atkins, I lost fairly steadily (I had the pause, and a 2 pound weight gain, then more weight loss, then another pause..been there done that! :yes ) and now my weight continues to slowly work it's way down. My body has it's own pace though, and I have to be patient. We all have to be patient.

Another thing to remember, which I keep telling myself now that I'm halfway to my goal, is that as you near your goal, your weight loss will start to slow down. This is why we see people who have large amounts of weight to lose having bigger losses on a regular basis than those who only have 20 or so to go.

On average, during the first two weeks of Induction, a person will lose from 5% to 10% of their desired amount.
Keep that in mind, and don't compare yourself to other people.

I think the biggest thing in the beginning weeks of Atkins is that we are all worried about how effective this diet is going to be, and we haven't learned to relax, enjoy our foods, and have faith that we will lose weight. Trust is something that is earned, and if you give Atkins the time, it will earn your trust. :yes

Have patience...give it a fair chance to show you how it can work for you, and do the best you can, people! :icondance

Re: Weight loss is not linear

Thanks Moochie. Im going to stick to it although its been 10 days and I havent lost a pound yet. That was a reassuring piece you wrote. Since my lowfat diet left me with hunger pangs, I am not too crazy about going back to it so I'll stick to Atkins. Im just ral nervous abut ganing weight since I am eating TWICE as many calories since I did before Atkins. Any thoughts on weight gain?

                          Again, thanks for the encouragement!

Moochiecat, you look awesome and your positive attitude is nice to see. I am already down 4 pounds and 8 inches in under a week. Although I know that weight flucs it's just nice to see and I'm not going to look anymore for two weeks. After being fat for two years now, well it's just nice to see results!!!!

Re: Weight loss is not linear

Wow I'm so glad I read this, as I was just about to give up after putting on 3lbs in the last week (but it's that time of the month, so that could explain it)

But despite the scales telling me I've gained 3 lbs, I've eaten right and exercised, and in fact I tried on a dress I bought last christmas which was a couple of sizes too small and I've never gotten on, and it fits perfectly!

So thanks SO much for the info or I would have quit! haha
