  • What do y'all think of this solution?

Okay, some of you may recall my low-cal thread (my tendency to eat about 1000 calries a day due to a small apprtite, which, by the way, I've always been this way).

Anyway, I've thought of a solution other than Kekwick.
What if I consumed 2 tablespoons of olive oil daily? Will this work?

FYI, I'm still on Induction, have not moved on to OWL, mostly because I have not have the time to look it over and partly because I'm afraid to gain on it.

    Any advice?

I'm feeling like I'm spinning my wheels. Help!

that'll give you an extra 240 calories.

well you're def. not gonna gain weight consuming an extra 5 grams of carbs from veggies. That's 50-70 calories at the most.

my advice is to stop letting this make you crazy and just follow the plan. It works.

I also was a bit afraid of moving to OWL while on induction, but there's really nothing to worry about. In the first rung you only add vegetables, so you should be fine. Plus, OWL forces you to get out of the box and learn making smart decisions about your food choices.

Btw, most people lose most weight on OWL; I definitely lose at a more rapid rate now than I did during the two weaks of induction (I had about 17 kg to lose).

It'll give you the extra calories alright, and fat, but I still think you'd be far better off moving to OWL, eating more veg and using the olive oil to make a nice dressing for your extra salads or to fry up some veg.

You seem to believe you are stalled - but you are not, you can't be, you only started about 4 weeks ago and you've lost 8lbs - a stall is NO wieght loss and NO inches lost for 4 weeks. You want to lose 65lbs, which means you have lost over 12% of the weight you need to lose. Those are NORMAL results, not low ones. There is no reason for you not to move on.

I was only two weeks on induction - so have lost 66lbs in 6 months mostly on OWL which after all stands for Ongoing Weight Loss, it's not SWG or Steady Weight Gain!!

That's why your wheels are spinning - move on!

I think you are eating way too little calories for your size. You list your start weight as 235 pounds. A rough estimate of your basal metabolic rate is 2350 cals.

Atkins is a "high calorie" diet in the sense that you eat the "normal" amount of calories for your body type and size rather than restrict them.

Atkins is also a high fat diet, in which 65% of your daily caloric intake during Induction should come from fat. 2 tablespoons of olive oil has about 240 calories. 240 is not 65% of 1000: it's more like 25%. So that leads me to wonder how your typical daily Induction menu looks like, because in order to make that 65% fat cals, your other foods/beverages should have about 210 fat calories. Please post your menu, including the amounts of each food/beverage you are taking.

Re: What do y'all think of this solution?

I have moved this thread from the 14-day induction forum into the extended induction forum so as not to confuse others.

Our review my menu forum (http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...aysprune=&f=50) is there to help people 'tweak' their menus if needed, so maybe post your list of foods eaten lately along with quantities etc so we can take a look at exactly what your food choices have been and maybe offer helpful suggestions.

As has already been said, it may be time for you to move to OWL now.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I just have one burning question... if you have always eaten 1000 calories a day, how could you be overweight??

Answer to Snap's Question: "if you have always eaten 1000 calories a day, how could you be overweight?"

I started gaining 3 years ago, after my dad's heart attack. I guess the sheer stress, being the sole catregiver for a year. After that, I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I had problems managing it and kept gaining. I've always been a poor eater, but stress makes me gain. Anyway, I no longer even take any metformin since starting Atkins.

As for and example of my daily menu:
                Breakfast: 2 egs (usually boiled)
                Snack: 1 babybel
                Lunch: Caesar Sald with chicken
                Snack: Cucumber
Dinner: 1 cup vegetables and fish/meat/chicken.

On bad days, I eat lunch at 4 and am too full to eat dinner properly.
Anyway, I'm trying to pay attention to eating every 3-4 hours.
