oh and you better cal your Applebees cause it ain't just hot sauce and water it has dried milk powder thickeners and soy in it too!
Well I just checked and Im still toward the darker end of the purple in the ketostix ... so I guess there was nothing wrong with them. Amazing.
Re-read the ketostix FAQ in the FAQ forum. The stix only tell you that fat is being metabolized, but it doesn't distinguish between the fat you ate or the fat on your body.

I googled Applebees and apparently there is some nutritional info on their wings. Since they're a low fat outfit, they only give the total cals and total fat values, nothing else unfortunately. So with that very limited information you can't even mathematically estimate what the carb count is. Had they included the protein content, you would be able to figure out the total carb count.....

I also googled other Applebee type restaurants and found their carb counts on their wings were anywhere from 2 net carbs "per serving" to 48 net carbs "per serving". The serving size varied widely too. One place called a "one serving" 1/2 of the order The carb count for their "one serving" was 24 net carbs. Another place's "one serving" was 8 wings with a net carb count of 43.

Your talking to someone who has a family person waitering there - #1. Number two, the actual wings cant possibly have any more than 1gm per about 4-6 pieces. That is just meat. Meat is meat, no matter where you go. Chicken is chicken, no matter where you go. The difference in carb counts between the different restaurants you mentioned is that some put sugar in their hot sauce and some put other honey bbq, or something else on thier wings. Again - my entire family has waited restaurants for a long time - we know the deal. But AS I SAID ABOVE ^^^ I asked the waitress to find out what is on the wing sauce (I ordered mild so there was very little) and she didnt even have to ask anyone, she said that it was part regular hot sauce and part water (AS I SAID ABOVE). So tell me. What exactly dont you get. Maybe the neuron between your brain and your fingers arent working? (kidding off course - dont take it the wrong way)
Emo Boy, I went to the trouble of googling Applebees wings and other similar restaurants for you (something you apparently didn't bother to do for yourself) and I don't appreciate the ingratitude and sarcasm in your posts whether it's in jest or not. Those are the results I got. I can't help it if you don't like those results.

As for "what I don't exactly get", I'll tell you. IF you KNEW what was in the sauce, what's the purpose of this post? Let me quote your initial post here:

Anyone who "KNEW" what was in the sauce because they asked the waitress, wouldn't be running here and posting if it was okay to eat it---they would be running to a carb counter and trying to estimate it for themselves.

It seems like you've got your knickers in a twist because no one here could give you the exact carb count, eventhough the waitress told you it was "regular hot sauce mixed with water" and because no one gave you the answer you wanted to hear.

My sincere best wishes to you on your weight loss journey.

Tell me. When was the last time you listened to your accountant on sex advice? She is a waiter who didnt even bother to ask the chef. I was double checking with the board, as to wonder if anyone had any knowledge on the subject ... knickers? Where the **** are you from? I also find it funny that for some reason you dont think I googled it before I posted here. Shall I get a screen capture of my 'cache' from a few days ago?

Wait a minute....So now you don't believe the waitress? Your last post implied that you did believe her when she told you the sauce only contained hot sauce and water.

I'm happy you googled Applebees before you posted that thread, because you know that Applebees gives limited information on its dishes, with the exception of their low fat menues, because they claim that the recipes differ from restaurant to restaurant. Lots of folks post questions they don't even attempt to look for either on the search feature here or on a search engine. And after a while you can get a feel if a person bothered to look things up or if they just posted without doing anything at all.

If you want to definitively know what exactly was in that sauce, call up the restaurant and have a fry-cook read the nutritional info off the bottle.

HEY, I'm ok. Was doing great but I think I might be pregnant so I have been king of waiting to see and doing bad. I plan on eating well on maintaince if I am but for whatever reason I gave in and figured I would start over if I am pregnant or not for whichever way I can eat. I always do that to myself can we say procratinate(can I spell it)-lol. My daughter is only 9 months old so I may freak a little (lot) if I am but I would still be happy of course.

I saw the new Mod. Congrats. ANDDDDDD your before and after are great. Your face looks like a differnt person. Beautiful before and after. Lucky you.

:no :no :no You post about wings you have already consumes a big nono saying you don't know if it has sugar nor how many carbs you just ate.
wetake the time to tell you so you and others reading don't make that mistake again not to consume anything unless you know the carb count and the ingredients and we find out the actually ingredients in the wing sauce for you and then you go off on us?!? :yikes :yikes

Getting mad at us will not change the fact that you messed up and could have derailed your Atkins. the fact that you were worried enough to test to see if you were still in ketosis says you didn't believe it was just water, vinager and redpepper on those wings either cause an entire cup of hot sauce only has 7.45 net catrbs according to fitday. you lucked out and the amount of carbs in that sauce wasn't enough to exceed your CCLL. Please don't put yourself in that situation again.

I believe that there is hot sauce and water ...... but I also believe she COULD (not did) have forgotten any sugar ... but then again the sauce tasted like there was no sugar. Again ... I was trying to back the waitres's answer up. Maybe a poster on here use to chef there ... thus i asked ...

2big ... tell me - name a point in time when I "went off" on anyone? Two other posters on this board sayed that you guys were 'jumping' on me but I never went off of anyone. You have to remember that over the internet it is hard to show emotion so words can be taken two different ways - nice or mad. Nothing I said was said in a mean way.

I already admitted (in the first post none-the-less) that I was a little suspicious of just the hot sauce/water. This doesnt mean that I didnt believe her. It means that I wanted to back up her info. It would be as if someone on here told you that your heart could explode with too much iron - you wanted to believe them, but you still asked your doctor. Same situation here - I want to believe the waitress but I wanted to make sure on here. You following? .... and as I said earlier there was so little (probably 1/2 of a cup) on all of the wings, but I still am a little weary about that stuff.

Next time I will just keep it too myself - way to be supportive!

                        calming mood

Kind of sad to watch you all just jump on Emo Boy rather than gently assist. He is still learning. This is one of the reasons that I read the boards but rarely post, people are too quick to jump on someone.

I agree, it wasn't the end of the world that emo boy ate something he maybe wasn't suppose to. Keep your head held high Emo, and keep up the good work. Watching what you eat is the key.

I don't know guys...I've read this thread and it seems a bit harsh to me too...I rely on the boards for positive reinforcement and answers to some questions regarding my life changing eating habits...its a bit disconcerting to receive that kind of (what I regard as) response to put someone on the defense...I wish we could be less bootcamp some days (and of course this is not neveryone...my mentor is wonderful) and more straightforward informative.

I agree with the posters who were trying to help. I just think Emo didn't like what they had to say so he became defensive and argumentative. This whole plan is about bucking up and taking responsibility for your actions. Personally I'm a little tired of all the "I might have cheated / I did cheat / will it really hurt my success?" posts. Which is why you won't see me posting any of my own or replying to anyone elses. If I cheat or even suspect I might have "accidently" cheated then I know I screwed up, I take it as a lesson learned and I don't come on here expecting people to pat me on the back and say "it's ok...." and then whine about it when they don't. But that's just me and I think I'm PMS'ing so if this seems harsh I apologize but after all the effort and time 2Big and a lot of the other posters put into this board it just grates on me that they tried to help and got berated for it. Personally I think someone just needs to grow up. End of rant... :raving

This whole plan is about bucking up and taking responsibility for your actions. Personally I'm a little tired of all the "I might have cheated / I did cheat / will it really hurt my success?" posts. Which is why you won't see me posting any of my own or replying to anyone elses. I vote for a cooling off period for this post ... all those in favor ... aye!

                                The ayes have it.

In summary, points were made. We still are not positive what ingredients are in specific restaurant style chicken wings. Emo knows they weren't breaded so that's a good thing. IMHO Applebee's reluctance to provide nutritional information is symptomatic of why we can't follow this WOL, easily, when we eat out. We all know we have to ask questions and sometimes we know the answers but sometimes we don't.

When I go to a restaurant, I sometimes feel like I'm interrogating a suspect in a crime when I talk to waitstaff. But it is our collective behaviors that will change the way the food service industry wants to deal with nutritional information for consumers. Those that welcome my questions and meet my needs will get my business and those that can't won't.

                                Bless us everyone!
