  • Third week (Extended Induction) and....

I'm feeling a little discouraged! This week has been tough. I'm stuck at 217 lbs. Was up a couple and then back to 217. I haven't cheated and consume at least 100 ounces of water per day. I try to make that my only drink. I've had a few diet cokes in the past 3 weeks. I've been lifting weights faithfully and either walking or using a rowing machine 4 times per week. I have incredible increased muscle tone. I'm beginning an ab workout as well. I was just wondering how long it takes after you begin seriously working out before some of the weight drops off as the fat melts. I feel like I'm stuck at 217 and the only thing I can focus on is....onederland. I want onederland and I want it quicker!!! I have upped my veggie intake and the only thing I can think of that would've been detrimental was for a few days I probably didn't eat enough calories. I'm trying to find that perfect balance. Hunger and cravings are long gone. BTW, I have a Return of the Whooshie Pie in the oven. Just wanting the scale to make me smile this week. I shouldn't complain. The size 18 jeans look like clown pants and I did get to go out last night slinking around in the old size 16's. That was nice! I just feel like week 3 hasn't been kind to me.

You're doing great. Congratulations. You are super impatient but I can understand that. It is however a long journey and it will all happen for you. You did not put on the weight in 3 weeks, it is not going to come off in three weeks either.

Do you watch the show "The Biggest Loser" Now on that show all the contestants have trouble week and week 2 or 3 many of them see a stop or a gain. This is the experience here too. Body pauses. It is normal. It will start again keep your faith.

And get the measuring tape out. Many people get more inspiration from inches than that number on the scale. And if you are working so much you're going to be one of them.
Perhaps not weigh yourself everyday if it is driving you crazy?
Anyways just wanted to say congrats.

Thanks Liv! I've been on Atkins...um, let's just say a few times in the past and I remember dropping 20 lbs per month. I feel like I'm losing ground. I do use the tape measure but for some reason...I prefer the scale. I know when ToM comes along, I'll be screwed and have vowed to loan my scale to a friend for that week!! That's why I want to make the most of those "free weeks"!! ONEDERLAND. I want my 13 year old son to weigh more than I do. He's nearly 170 and 6 feet tall. He told me the other day I can't weigh less than him because I have boobies. That was cute.

Well I like seeing the numbers on the scale drop also. But, remember with all your doing in the workout area you must be gaining muscle right? So maybe you should go with the measurements to see your progress.

        good luck

maybe the food is rotting in your gut and the toxins are throwing your chemistry off?? my friend owns a Herbal Magic and says that can stop u from losing weight.

i would try adding some fibre (veggies or flax). also some exercise might help get ur metabolism going, even if all you have the energy for is 1/2 hour walking on a treadmill.

lol all my advice comes with a disclaimer though: i'm just new to this stuff (day 14).

Hey EverLosing.. if you are on weight training, do not forget that your newly build muscles will make your weight look stationary or even increased!! Take out the measure tape.. Even a slight weight training, will actually produce new muscles..and muscles are heavier than fat..

One of my favourites! 5 pounds of fat alongside 5 pounds of muscle!
I'd take being smaller any day!!

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Oh, thank you for the fat vs. muscle picture!! I heard it existed but have never seen it. I remember Tony Little on tv years ago holding up a nasty 5 lb fat prop but I wondered what the size of 5 lbs of muscle looked like compared to fat! I've been training hard, really hard but I've got to be careful. I've had two back surgeries in the past and don't want to go there again. I worked out Friday and Saturday morning and by Saturday afternoon I had to go to my son's basketball game. I was struggling to walk....and then I had to sit on bleachers!! Near the end of the game, I gave up and stood. I took a pain pill last night (the good stuff) and went to bed. I got up feeling so much less pain.

Keep you head up and focusing on your health. The scale will move when it is ready.
When the scale dosen't move, I use the measuring tape to keep me motivated.

Everlosing, it isn't you, it's the number. I've been stuck at 217 for almost a week too. I think when I finally get off this stupid number I'll skip 216 and 215 out of spite. Good luck.

Good morning! Another day goes by and the scale still shouts 217. I hope you got over the hump. I thought for sure I would today. I worked out hard yesterday and ate right. I guess we'll try again today.

I agree with everyone else. The weight will come off - just be patient. And already you said you dropped a size. I would kill to get out of my size 18 jeans and put my 16's back on. It is working...patience grasshopper.

I think I figured it out. I have been slacking off my Fitday logs for a week because I have been doing it for a month and "know" I'm doing this right. Turns out I was not right. I have been eating lean meats and my appetite is so decreased that I was under 1000 calories for awhile. That's a trap I never thought I would fall in. I threw some breakfast sausage in my diet today and that should get me out of starvation mode. Back to Fitday for me.

Without fitday I do the weirdest things. It has become a must for me to record what I eat. Good job on figuring it out. Eat fat to become thin is what we do here.
