  • Tinned Corned Beef

Does anyone on Extended Induction eat tinned corned beef? I stopped eating it because it contained sugar but I really miss it. I googled it and see that others on Induction are eating it.

The thing is before I found out it contained sugar and ate it regularly I was still losing 3-4lbs a week. The mayo I eat contains a bit of sugar, which doesn't effect me, and the corned beef I used to buy contains 0.5g sugar per 100g.

Is it really a no go?

    Hi UKAmmie

I had this dilemma a while ago. I used to get corned beef in Somerfield that had no sugar, but then they shut down so I shop elsewhere, and they only have corned beef with sugar. As you say, like the mayo, it doesn't seem to be enough to have an affect on me. I only have it about once a month, but that's is just because it's not a favourite with me.

I would say it is ok if it doesn't cause stalls, gain or create cravings.

Thanks *Alexa* There's a Somerfield down the road to me so I'll get my OH to have a look for the sugarless kind I hope they do it. Brilliant!

The one from Sommerfield without sugar is the cheaper one (I think). The label is sort of cream. I hope they haven't changed the recipe - that happened before with other stuff!

I used to make it in a salad with mayo, onions, baby tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, olive oil, a squeeze of lemon and lettuce it was so delish.

I had to post in this thread. I was never a big corned beef eater, but my mom who passed away a few years ago used to LOVE the stuff. She'd eat it all the time. This thread brought back good memories

I made corned beef hash about a month ago....I used fried radishes w/onion as the base then added canned corned beef and ate with my family (who were having the regular potatoes/onion & corned beef recipe). I couldn't tell the difference. Cut the radishes in 3 slices then in half so they are pretty good sized pieces. Don't turn your nose up to fried radishes until you have tried them!! YUM! I even posted a picture of it the night I ate it....

                    Re: Tinned Corned Beef

I looked at the two brands of corned beef on the shelf when I popped into our local Somerfield and both had sugar in the ingredients lists.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
