  • Week 4 of Induction and I'm stalled help

I'm on week 4 of my induction and I seem to have just totally stalled out. I lost 15lbs in the first 2 weeks but I haven't lost a single lb since then.

Here is an example of my daily food intake:

Beverages: at least 3 sometimes up to 5: 16.9 fl oz bottles of water a day No more then 1 of these a day, somedays NONE: 1 of the crystal light premade drinks with splenda (not the packets that have aspartame, but the made up one, I cut out aspartame over a week ago all together) 1 glass of Diet Rite tangerine (no caffiene, no carbs, no calories, made with splenda for sweetner)

Breakfast: 2 Eggs (sometimes boiled sometime scrambled with a sprinkle (less then 1/2 an oz of cheese), bacon or Sausage (checked carbs on sausage, it's 0)

Lunch: cup and a half of tunasalad (has mayo, dill pickle relish (0 carbs) and boiled egg diced into it) and salad with 2 cups ish of romaine lettuce 1/8 cup medium sized tomato, 1/16 cup of onion, bacon crumbles, about an ounce of feta cheese, basil, red wine vinegear and olive oil

Dinner: 1 to 1-1/2 ground beef patties (make them myself from ground beef or ground round) few tablespoons of mayo, 1 teaspoon of mustard, and 1-2 teapoons of reduced sugar ketchup (1 carb per 2 tsps) as a dipping sauce for the meat. Veggie varies, sometimes it's a few slices of tomatoe, sometimes some broccoli/cauliflower with just butter, sometimes it's string beans. Never go over the 1cup here.

Snack: (assuming I have one) Sliced Pepperoni (sometimes regular, sometimes turkery pepperoni) and about 2 ozs of medium cheddar cheese. OR a stick or two (each stick is about 3/4 of an oz) of chipolte cheddar cheese (they have approxiameltly 1 carb each in them)

This is pretty typical of what I eat daily. I had that exact meal plan a couple of days this week, and it' hasn't varied much. Occasionally I'll get a rotisserie chicken and split it up instead of the tuna or the beef patties.

I've never been a real caffiene drinker. I'm on again off again trying to quit smoking. I quit for 7 months and picked it back up recently cause...well I'm an idiot... This has happened in the last 2 weeks, I don't know if it is effecting me, but I can promise I haven't wavered even a taste (not even a SNIFF) of the wrong foods.

Thanks for any help you guys can give. I'm REALLY having a hard time, it's getting very frustrating. I don't expect much, but 1 lb would have been nice!!!

I should add, I just came back on Atkins after being off for a year and restarted on induction.

2nd - 202 lbs - BMI no longer considered obese
3rd - 199 lbs - No longer have to say 2 in my weight!
5th - 168 lbs - BMI no longer considered overweight

Your menu looks fine. The veggies are a bit over 3 cups, but I'm pretty sure that's not what has caused your weight loss to pause.

It's common not to see any weight loss a few weeks after the "regular" Induction---it's called PISS (Post Induction Stall Syndrome). If you go to the "Most Memorable Posts" forum, there's a thread about it.

Coffee can affect you even if you don't necessarily get cravings from it, by stimulating the release of insulin. Insulin is a fat-storing hormone, so you get the picture.

I'd also cut out the sweetened drinks. Give it a try at least and see if it makes a difference. You might have an intolerance to one of the ingredients, which can cause your weight loss to stall.

Water should be at least 64 oz per day. The more you weigh and exercise, the more water you need though.

    Are you doing your exercise?

I found early on that I had to give up everything that tastes sweet.I assume I get a insulin release response which hindered me.Water, club soda and black coffee is my only beverage. My intake of cheese is minimal, maybe a couple bites a week.Do you really need dipping sauce?

I took measurements, they haven't changed in a week and a half. I own a cleaning business, and clean all day so I'm not at a desk job, according to the calculator I use (I know we don't count calories but to give an idea of the burn of cleaning) 1 hour of cleaning equals out to like 225 calories. I do at least 2 hours a day, sometimes up to 6 hours a day of straight out cleaning.

I park where I find a space, never search for close ones or wait to get it, I walk to the grocery across the street usually, unless it's icky outside. And I'm moving to Australia in Sept so when I'm home I very rarely just sitting. (in short answer, no I don't do an exercise program lol)

Do I really need dipping sauce?:

Yes lol, otherwise it taste like eating paper in my opinion. Plain hamburger is gross, plain chicken is about the same. I'm not a big fan of meats in general. I use to be a vegetarian.

                small world,

im a cleaning manager and i also am on my feet most of the day so i aswell do do much excersice other than my work.also it took about three weeks for my energy levels to get up and once i felt lighter in myself i got more energetic at work.

it is true that this stall is soooo common after a fortnight of induction,it does pass,i do agree that you should cut out fizzy drinks and eventually you will know what your body allows and what it doesnt.

ive been quite naughty and have been having peanut butter(not alot)but that hasnt stalled me,the thing i think that stalled me was kebab meat as i didnt truely know what was is in as soon as i cut it out i started losing again.

                Hope were helping

Re: Week 4 of Induction and I'm stalled help

I'll cut the diet rite out. I only had one glass outta the 2 liter so far so it's not a major cut. I've never been much of a soda/cola drinker anyway.

I'm going to hate cutting out the crystal light. It's the only thing that once in awhile has a pop to the flavor. Plain water gets rather boring after a very SHORT period of time.

I'm afraid I have to much mayo, but I don't know that I really can. I mean it's suppose to be a GOOD fat isn't it? It's not miracle whip or anything, just plain normal mayo, 0 carb. The ketchup isn't done in overkill it's only 1 carb a day of it, and the mustard isn't either and it's 0 carb. I use more mayo for my sauce then anything.

Re: Week 4 of Induction and I'm stalled help

It is likely a normal pause - happens around there. It is not unusal. Thing is to keep going

But if there is anything to tweak on your menu it would be cutting down on the sweet stuff. It looks to me like there are far more than three servings of sweets on your menu

Your drink has one or two servings or sweet
Bacon or sausage probably has sugar (or dextrose)
                    ketchup has sugar
                    mayo has sugar (very likely)
                    pepperoni has sugar
rotisserie chicken probably has a sugar rub

Maybe moving up the rung adding more veggies would help you. If things does not start moving that is what I would do.
Do you not like fish either?

Re: Week 4 of Induction and I'm stalled help

Fish in general no. I can't seem to get past the fishy smell!! I don't mind tuna as long as it's in a tuna salad, but just fish I find icky.

I don't mind shrimp though, but without some sort of sauce, again it's kinda boring and just uneventful.

I'm going to give it another week and see if it's just a general stall, and will pass. I know when I did atkins before I would have pauses where I wouldn't lose anything for a couple weeks then suddenly drop 3 or 4 lbs, but I really don't remember it being so early on in full blown induction!

                      Thanks for the comment!

I will definitely watch for the hidden sugar. I found that my mayo did have sugar when I just checked, but the new one I bought doesn't. I'll check on the pepperoni when I go to the store tomorrow, I'm out and so I haven't had any in a couple of days. I don't think my sausage does, but I'll check more carefully on the bacon and sausage. I guess I can see if they have an ingredients list for the chicken too.

As a side note, I use to get this grilled chicken ceaser salad from Wendy's and found it it has over 30g of carbs in it. They inject the chicken with sugar!!!! Broke my heart, it was good! lol

The only thing I would cut out would be the ketchup and replace it with mayo... or mayo mixed with mustard...

This is a normal stall at a normal time (after a loss of 10-15 lbs.) you will start losing again before a couple of weeks...

The morning after I made this post, I got on my scale and had dropped 2 lbs. It was apparently just a stall to give my body a chance to catch up. Yay!!!
