  • Was losing at fast rate and now stalled

I was on atkins before in Grade 11 and dropped from 320 to 215 in 6 months. I am on Atkins again. I started again 3 weeks ago at 266, I am now down to 249. Keeps fluctuating between 249-251. My ketostix are staying in between moderate and high levels. I was drinking a lot of diet pop and Crystal Light but then thought it might be the aspertame. Have not had any for approx a week, no change. I am getting discouraged but sticking with it. I have amped workouts to 2-3 times a week, walking when possible, and working out at home. Drinking approx 2 LT of water a day. Started drinking koolaid with splenda (0 Carbs). My menu consists of:

Breakfast- Eggs (cut out ketchup) w/ a few slices of bacon
Lunch- Green peppers and mushrooms with cream cheese
    Dinner- Chicken Caesar Salad.

I noticed that I have been eating quite a bit of cheese, so that's the only thing I can think of. Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. I am losing inches like crazy, wearing clothes I haven't worn in years.

    Thanks,
    ~ The Ringleader ~

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

Yes religiously. I own that version and the revised version. Is there anything that i posted that you can see possibly being a conflict?

You're not in high school anymore. Don't compare your weight loss now with your weight loss then.

And why did you to stop Atkins?

My ketostix are staying in between moderate and high levels.
It doesn't matter if it's light pink or dark purple. And for some people the sticks don't change color at all, even when these people are in lipolysis/ketosis.

I was drinking a lot of diet pop and Crystal Light
Sweeteners are limited to 3 per day. A serving of CL or diet soda is usually 8 oz.

And none counts as water. You need a minimum of 64 oz of pure water daily... and many people do better drinking more.

Drinking approx 2 LT of water a day. Started drinking koolaid with splenda (0 Carbs).
            See above.

Breakfast- Eggs (cut out ketchup) w/ a few slices of bacon
Lunch- Green peppers and mushrooms with cream cheese
            Dinner- Chicken Caesar Salad.
            How many calories are here?

How many net carbs? And how many of your net carbs are coming from vegetables?

I have been eating quite a bit of cheese
What's "quite a bit"? Are you measuring?

Cheese is limited to 3-4 oz per day.

I am losing inches like crazy, wearing clothes I haven't worn in years.
If you are losing inches, you are not stalled. Dr. Atkins defined a stall as 4 consecutive weeks without weight loss or loss of inches.

              >>s there anything that i posted that you can see possibly being a conflict?>>

              Not enough food?

              Not enough vegetable carbs?

I can't see that you're getting enough calories or enough net carbs per day.

              Too much sweetener.

              >> I noticed that I have been eating quite a bit of cheese>>

              How much exactly?

              >>Drinking approx 2 LT of water a day.>>

              Not enough water.

64 ounces is a MINUMUM ... and 1/2 your current body weight in ounces of water is probably better.

Re: Was losing at fast rate and now stalled

I suffer from Bipolar Disorder, so I had a lot of things going on. I have it under control now. I still have the same metabolism as high school. I am active and workout. I wouldn't be concerned if it was coming off at the same rate, but why would it just come to a halt?

Well, there is no way to know this.

You don't think I am eating enough? Could it really be that simple? I have little to no appetite. How can I increase my food intake? Approved Veggies?

Try using a program like Fitday, it is free on the internet. You simply enter the foods and quantity you are eating and it tells you how much fat, protein, and carbs you are eating and the percentages. Also it shows calories. You don't actually "count" calories on Atkins, but you still need to see approximately if you are eating too low or too high amounts in calories.

Ketosis has an appetite suppressant effect.

How can I increase my food intake? Approved Veggies?
Veggies won't add many calories, but they'll add more nutritious carbs. That's a good thing, as long as you stay at your carb level.

There are many foods you can choose from using the Acceptable Foods List. More fat will add calories quickly.
