Here is a useful 'sticky' thread from the Atkins FAQ forum about making the decision to move to OWL
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

congrats on your great job morphing your body working your Atkins. Nobody told you but human weight loss goes as you have been doing the scale doesn't move but you notice iches of your body fat being shed. Because of complicated biochemical reasons the human body does not like to collaspe inward rapidly so it will "plump" your tissues with fluid where fat molecules are being removed from. because the fluid is denser then the fat molecules you can see inches leaving even though the scales say no change. That can frustrate folk who don't understand and they will think they are doing something wrong when in fact they are doing a great job.

At some point the fluids will exceed your bod'y tolerance for their interferrence with biochem things and your body will relases a chemical that will remove the fluids and whoosh as you saw scale weight moves in a big amount over night not proportional to your eating and activities the day before. then the cycle starts again no scale loss but inches lost whoosh scale weight lost again, ... all the way to goal weight.

If one is properly eating their Atkins they will also be adding lean body tissue which can mast body fat pounds lost so those inches become even more important to know you are still working your atkins.

if you want to see how in in accurate your stix are for determining how well you are doing next timew you measure drink 2 pints of water and measure again when you go again in about 30 min. you will see a very marked drop in the color even though you didn't alter your eating in any fashion. stix only measure the CONCENTRATION of one type of ketone body in the urine. since that ketone body is the one our muscles use for fuel you can easily burn them up. As we progress on our Atkins our bodies grow more fat burning "factories" in our cells and muscle cells begin to store fatty acids for quick energy production and our blood glucose levels stay stable making the liver not work over time dumping ketone bodies into the blood stream to answer the desperate call of our cells for more fuel as they did back when we started and didn't have as many factories in our cells cause we were pimarily glucose fuelers.

You will be in ketosis from now until you exceed your CCLL which should be pretty high based on your induction 14 day losses so put your stix away and save your money.

Keep reading chapter 13 of your DANDR each day and when you answer yes to one of those questions you will know it is time to move to OWL the great food experiement. Dr Atkins also says the last 5-10 pounds should be lost in premaintnenace so one needs to move to OWL before that happens.
