      Honey,

If you are feeling blah, are you exercising? Even moderate exercise should help make you feel a little better.

Also, here are two veggie recipes that are easy to make, you don't have t be a Top Chef to follow recipes...there are many here and tons on the net.

Both of those dressings are the most popular/common prepared ones used with this way of eating, beginning in Induction. And both are easy to make. Lots of Caesar dressings recipes out there if you choose to make your own to control the ingredients. Or make your own Ranch from packet using your mayonnaise of choice (soybean based or not) and cream instead of milk. Yeah, there's some carb to count to the Ranch from packet, but it's trivial - about 1.6 per 2 tablespoons. Or find a from scratch recipe out there like for the Caesar (although I've yet to find one that really mimics the packet - something is always "missing").

On page 127 of DANDR, Dr. Atkins wrote "Prepared salad dressings without added sugar and no more than two carbs per a tablespoon serving are also fine." "Without added sugar" does not equal "no sugar". It's learning to make the distinction and the decision to use less than 2 g of carb per 2 tablespoons Ranch versus, say, 7 or 8g Catalina.

Very often the packets have worse ingredients than the bottled.

Did the diet change? in DANDR it says you can add in nuts after the first two weeks of induction even if you are choosing to do extended induction. you only need to go without nuts the first two weeks. Where are you reading that nuts are added in at OWL rung 3???

Without having to cook, you can add raw veggies to your salads like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, peppers, parsley, cilantro. This is a good fast way to get your veggies in.

I think this is another case of how you interpret the wording in DANDR, which causes confusion and sometimes on lowcarb boards
Are you thinking of this section of the rules of induction?
                    4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
I can see how that would read as being 'permission' to eat them after the first 2 weeks of induction
However as many people do have problems with adding them even when on the 3rd OWL rung, I would hesitate to suggest anyone added them regularly if they had decided to follow Induction for longer than the first 2 weeks.

Much better to move to OWL and start to add the different food groups including nuts within a few weeks.

I have the impression from my reading of DANDR that Dr Atkins did not expect many people to carry on induction for long though (apart from those with metabolic problems) as he wrote at the end of Chapter 13

                    Look at the Big Picture
In one sense, doing Induction is the easiest part of Atkins. You're following a strict regimen that almost always works. Now, as you learn in the next few chapters how to liberalize that regimen, you will be re-entering the "real" world. That doesn't have to be the bad world of junk food and uncontrollable cravings. But it is a world of greater choice, and certainly one in which you will be closer to the place where weight gain is a possibility.
If being overweight has been a big problem in your life, I don't want you to muff this opportunity. Over the course of the next few months, you can teach yourself a whole new way of life that will keep you healthy for decades. That is what doing Atkins is really all about.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Day 17 and feeling blahh

There are some Atkins cookbooks that say that one can add nuts after the first two weeks, even if one is doing Induction for more than 2 weeks.

However, as has been noted, it's probably best to wait until the nut rung to add them back in.

                      >>in DANDR it says you can add in nuts after the first two weeks of induction even if you are choosing to do extended induction.>>

Can you cite the chapter and section in DANDR 2002 where it says that?
