I've been on Atkins most of the past year. I lost maybe six pounds the first two weeks, and then maybe two or three over the course of the next month and a half. At that point I gave up caffeine entirely, and lost another twenty in the next 6 weeks. It was great.
At that point, I wound up at an on site job location for several months, where eating on campus was the only option, and a low carb lifestyle was at odds with the chef's preference. I gained fourteen pounds back over the course of the few months I was there. Once I returned home, I maintained a basically low carb lifestyle although I wasn't really focused on losing weight.
In the middle February, I went back on Induction full time and since then have lost seven pounds. I thought maybe I was cheating and not realizing it so, I dug out my book and for the past two weeks, made sure my diet was impeccable. No caffeine, no soda, less than four ounces of cheese, two cups salad sprrinkled through out the day with an awareness towards the salad dressing, 1 cup allowed veggies and then meat and eggs. I haven't eaten any protein bars (even Atkins Advantage), low carb candy or even low carb ice cream. I walk at least an hour a day with at a 15 minutes per mile clip. I've realized, when following the book letter perfect, that I'd actually been doing quite well for the past several weeks. Anyway, being meticulous for two weeks, I've only lost 1 and 1/2 pounds.
I don't think it's plateau because I've realized that I've spent most of the last year (with the exception of when I wasn't at home) eating almost entirely in this manner. Being completely conscious of what I put in my mouth hasn't changed my eating patterns. Other than a very occasional glass of Diet Slice or Rye Crisp with Laura Scudders peanut butter, nothing else has changed. And the infrequency with which I had those - once every three or four weeks, certainly couldn't have hindered weight loss that severely.
The lipo strips virtually never move out of the "trace category" regardless of how meticulous I am - although they are almost always there. They've registered "medium" only once in the past year, and "small" maybe a half dozen times.
Anyway, I re-read Atkins this morming and I thought I'd try the fat fast and just see what happens. I like being on Atkins, and even if I don't lose weight, I just feel so much better. But I have a wardrobe full of really fabulous clothes that I'd love to wear and I find myself avoiding business meetings because I'm self-conscious - and that is costing me money.
Any feedback or experience you have is appreciated.
