  • Eating out

Ok question....anyone know of any good fast food type joints...subway, chiptole, etc that have good induction meals, that aren't just gross old stale salads? b/c of my life right now it's just not realistic for me to cook all of my own meals...i need some good options to last me these last two weeks and then it's vaca and i can totally cook and all that jazz....so tips for eating out would be great! (great places to go..how to make sure that there aren't hidden carbs etc)

    thanks

subways the only place I've really tried...they make a great grilled chicken spinach salad with bacon...I heard that TGIF and Ruby Tuesdays have a good low carb menu. Carl's Jr has a low carb breakfast bowl that has been pretty popular. Easy things you can do are boil a bunch of eggs for snacks, make and bag cheese crisps, bake crustless quiches on the weekend that you can eat during the week, buy pre cut and washed greens, grill or bake a whole tray of chicken that you can easily make stir frys and salads with.

I go to Burger King and order The Angus Burger minus the bun and onions. This burger doesnt have ketsup on it, but if it did I'd have to order it without the ketsup. Its real good and sometimes I have 2!

I also ask them for a cup for water ... absolutly NO sodas for this gal!!

When going out I always order fajitas.. just minus all the stuff I am NOT supposed to eat. They are still FAB! without the tortillas.

When I was down in Florida last month i got to try the Hardee's low carb burger (they have two different sizes of them) It's wrapped in lettuce and I thought it was awesome...I wish they had hardees' here! ...though watch they don't put any ketchup on it. i requested it w/o.

TGI Fridays Atkins menu has 1 induction friendly meal. Steak with blue cheese and broccoli. Pretty good though. Salad Bars everywhere are made for us inductees though :nod

                ANYWHERE I WANT!

I eat just about anywhere I want to. In restaurants i normally order whatever is grilled, roasted, or baked (no gravies or sauces) and veggies instead of baked potato, mashed potato, or fries. As far as fast food, burgers-no bun, pizza-just toppings with salad. IHOP is a pretty good place to eat out-omlettes, steak and eggs, eggs and pork chops--the list goes on.

I second the Hardees burger. By me it's called Carls Jr., same place. I often get it plain. No ketchup is obvious I dont like mayo and I have to watch my cheese as it makes me stall. So get just the burger in lettuce, with tomatoes onions and pickels. I pull the onions and tomatos off depending on how my carbs are for the day and I ask for a packet of bluecheese dressing with it. I only use a tiny bit, no more than a tablespoon of it, probably less.

I actually had this yesterday, and instead of bluecheese I asked for xtra mustrad and pickels as Im bit weary of the dressing but after pluggin it into fitday I was afraid the meal didnt have enough fat.

They also have a lo carb chicken ranch sandwich. I am going to try that next time I go.

Chipotle would be good if you get a burrito bowl minus rice and beans. You can look up each indivual componet's nutirtional info at http://www.calorieking.com The carnitas has no carbs, dont know about the rest of the meat or what its marinated in. I don't really like their food tho.

I eat out a lot but Im lucky, I live in a big health consioucs city where everyone is on some diet (LA) In fact I went to a chinese place that had a lo carb menu. They said any item on the menu could be made with no starch or sugar if you asked.

iyshiaf, :wave watch the omlets and scrambled eggs at IHOP. They make them with a bit of pancake batter in it so it gets fluffy. I believe you can request that it be made from fresh eggs tho.

Arby's works as well. Order a regular roast beef sandwich, double meat, plain without the bun. What you get is 6 ounces of roast beef in a container. The carbs are low (IrishIrish once posted the exact carbs, but I forget what they were), and it's yummmmmy!!

Softnred you look great! Love the new pic!

OK, on topic. Wendys' has a good ceasar salad for .99 cents! That and a bunless burger is a great lunch for me!! (Fruit cups are good too, now that I am doing fruits)

Bob Evans has a low carb menu now and you can call and order it to go. I got the pork chops, salad & brocolli, yummy! If you get a salad at a fast food place, make sure you look at the carb count on the dressings, some of them are really, really high!

For Fast Food, I am McDonalds double cheeseburger, no bun, no catsup, with lettuce and mayo guy. However I am more often going to a local grocery store for their salad bar. The one thing that irritates me to no end is the love affair with Paul Newman's salad dressings at FF joints. Any salad dressing with 9g of carbs for ranch should be run off the face of the earth...
