  • A bit of a stall

so, i have only lost 1 lb in the last 1.5 weeks.
i have been eating clean (example of menu below) and drinking my 2 litres of water at least every day. I have also started running.
i had TOM for 5 days however.. does that cause a stall??

    yesterday i had:

3 egg omelet with green pepper, 1 oz cheddar, 2 rashers bacon and onion
    whey protein shake (2 carbs)
salad with chicken and 2 hardboiled eggs
    whey protein shake (2 carbs)
grilled chicken with caesar salad (homemade dressing)
    cheese crisps (2 ozs)

not enough fat? too much sodium?

I know I can't drink the whey shakes or I quit losing. Have tried them several times over the years and everytime I totally stall out. Maybe switch it to an eggnog shake and see if that helps.

TOM also stalls me a little. It's usually a 1lb week at the most when Tom is around.

Don't know how much you have ... as a % of your calories.

Also ... you don't seem to have enough vegetables.

Also ... you might try drinking more water. 64 ounces is just the minimum!

And yes, people don't generally lose with "tom".

Now a pause is not unusual. But too much protein in this menu vs fat. Run it through FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal and find out what your ratios are. You should have around 65% of calories coming from fat, 30 from protein.
Whey is only induction friendly if an isolate.

I am with Liv, I really think that your fine, just in a little hesitation period....but you should check out fitday and make sure your getting around about 60 percent fat, 35 percent protein and 5 percent carbs, remember to deduct the fiber from your carb count.
Also, while you had two salads, make sure you get a good variety of veggies, lettuce is rather poor on nutrients while the red pepper is loaded with them.

Re: A bit of a stall

i chop up a lot of veggies in my salads.. they aren't just lettuce.
the whey protein is an isolate.
and the water, well the 2 litres as i said is "at least". i think i probably drink about 100 oz a day. i'm like a freakin camel and always have to pee (sorry for the TMI) lol
i have a 32 oz bottle that i fill up about 4 times a day.

i am doing a lot of exercise as well.. i think i should probably just relax and let the diet do its thing. i'm going to try adding more fat and reducing my protein a bit and see what happens. i personally dont like logging my food as it tends to make me very obsessive compulsive so i just consciously log it.

salt intake can really make you retain water, correct? i wonder if those cheese crisps are doing me a disservice. they are so tasty though and really get rid of the "snack bug".

Salt can make you retain water and that could be the problem. Do you salt your crisps?

no, it's simply grated cheese melted in the oven.
salt is higher in sodium though isn't it??
i'm going to lay off the cheese a bit and see if that helps.

Re: A bit of a stall

you are doing fine. weight loss isn't a linear thing. you lost weight so you are not stalled. Dr Atkins defines stalls as 4 full weeks of no pounds NOR inches lost.

Since you are losing weight don't mess with your success. if you do have a stall then think about making a change.

Have you measured so you can see the inches of body fat being shed when the scales refuse to validate your weight loss?

are you hungry when you have the shakes or are you just snacking to snack?

                    Glad you are working out

4 weeks of not losing and i would be having a giant cow i imagine.
i am feeling good today. i have been an EXTRA good girl, getting in my essential fats, had an eggnog shake instead of a whey shake and up'd my veggies and fat a bit.

oh! i totally forgot to add in my vinaigrette.
that has lots of fat. let me adjust that.

now that i have added that in, my ratio is 60% fat, 36% protein and 4% carbs.
i have also included my dinner in that which i will have later.

it's only 1060 calories though, which seems very light to me.
                            any good calorie booster ideas?
