I have been trying to drop the final 13 pounds and struggling mightily. The struggle is absolutely compounded by all of my "supportive" friends telling me I do not need to lose any more weight. I am 6'0 and 178 lbs and darned it all I just want to lose those last 13 lbs.

Re: So many doubters holding me down...
Your friends just wants the best for you but you are in charge.
Numbers are very artifical things though and you should go by how you feel. It is not great to get over fixated on something.
I also suggest you move towards introducing more variety of foods and learn about your CCLL.

Re: So many doubters holding me down...
Hi Atkins Gal,
I fell off the wagon in December and moved back up the scale. From my experience with this way of life, I need to go back into induction or my weight justs sits there. So, I am back in induction and I have been tracking every bite religiously. But it is hard with out any support from friends and family.

Re: So many doubters holding me down...
Thank you so very much for the advice and support LIV. I have been living the Atkins way of eating for over 10 years and have never even heard of CCLL. I will do some research but what problem are we trying to address with CCLL? Thanks again for your reply.

Re: So many doubters holding me down...
Congratulations on your losses so far
Many lowcarbers who have exercised throughout their Atkins journey discover that even when they are 10-20 pounds above their previous 'good weight' that their body shape is much better than it was when they were at that weight previously.
They report being able to wear clothes in sizes that previously they needed to be much lighter to fit.
Atkins tends to help us lose fat and even add muscle, which throws out what was right for us pre-Atkins.
I know the BMI charts are not 'gospel' but it seems from the info you have given that your BMI is under 24 now, which is classed as being 'normal healthy weight'
So it might be time to get your body fat checked out professionally to see if your original goal weight is too low for the body you are now living in
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: So many doubters holding me down...
I second what Elizellen said. At my previous lower weight I was wearing clothes that I could not wear even 40 pounds lighter than that. So I would get your BF% done. Many gyms will do it. Your "supportive friends" just may be right. The scale is only a number, don't get fixated upon it.Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

Re: So many doubters holding me down...
Elizellen,
You are awesome. Thank you for that great post. I do exercise for at least 90 minutes per day and I have quite a bit of weight lifting peppered in with my cardio so your points are well taken. And if how your clothes fit is the measure of success, then I should be happy with my progress. Perhaps my expectations of what I want my body to look like at age 51+ are higher than normal. I will have an age body fat assessment done at my healthclub and use that data to more objectively assess my progress. Thanks again and congratulations to you. Your pictures are amazing! You should be very proud of yourself.
