Are you eating a lot of spicy foods or things with a tomato sauce?

For me, those things are murder to my stomach. Before I started Atkins, I couldn't eat spaghetti sauce, chili, sloppy Joes, baked beans or anything else with a tomato base. Maybe you need to eliminate some foods and see what happens.

Re: Ugh, that was a mistake

One of the very great benefits I found from this diet was that after about a month, my heartburn disappeared. Because I am on a daily medication that can cause heartburn (Mobic, it's necessary) I take one at night for prevention puropses, but I used to be on two Nexium a day. I haven't taken the morning dosage since the end of Feb.

I'm thinking that in the next few days I just might cut out the night Nexium and see what happens. If it hits, I know that I still have to take it - so really I have nothing to lose.

You might very well find that this won't be a problem for you within the next couple of weeks!

Yep, vinegar ...as well as apple cider vinegar is an acid. You need the base. I was going to recommend good old baking soda as well. I believe the directions for heartburn remedy are still on the side of the box.

Alternatives are to dilute the contents of your stomach with a lot of water. And if you can get ahold of any, take a charcoal tablet to help absorb some of the acid.

As per the girl with the heartburn, I do not meant to be alarming, but definitely have a chat with with your doctor. I've heard of too many women thinking they are struggling with heartburn, only to have a heart attack misdiagnosed! I don't understand it, I don't think the doctors understand it, but the heart attack symptoms are different for women and men, and ongoing heartburn seems to be one of them for women.
