    hi guys

    I decided to start the atkins 7 weeks ago as it is the only diet if find i can stick to

    I wasn't majorly overweight but wanted to lose around 28-34lbs

    in the first 2-3 weeks i dropped from 16st10 to 15st 8 which was great. i stayed on induction as i wanted to get closer to my goal. however its now 4 and a half weeks and im still showing between 15,8 and 15, 9! i dont know what to do

    a typical day for me is

    Breakfast - 5 slices bacon
    snack - some cheese slices 0 carbs
    lunch - a salad of lettuce, cucumber, hame, chicken mayo, eggs and cheese
    snack- few handful's of peanuts
    dinner - grilled chicken breast with home made low carb sauce

    i go to the gym to do weights every day for 20 mins to stave off any muscle loss and accept this will slow weight loss down but thats fine

    i play 5 a side football once a week

    i enjoy a walk at least twice a week with my daughter


    not sure where to go next i was thinking of a carb day reset but i dont know if it will help

    Induction is not meant to be done until you are closer to goal, especially when you don't have a lot of weight to lose. You should lose most of your weight in OWL, so that you learn how to make Atkins a lifestyle, not only a weight loss tool.

    First of all, I doubt you are eating enough food. How tall are you?

    Cheese is limited to 3-4 ounce per day, during Induction.

    All cheese has carbs, regardless of what the label says. On American labels, if the carbs are less than 0.5 g per serving, they are rounded down to zero on the label. For more accurate carb counts, you can look up foods in the USDA database or track your foods in FitDay.

    How much is "few handful's of peanuts", in ounces? A serving of nuts is 1 ounce (except for cashews, for which a serving is 1/2 ounce)... and I've seen many people stalled by peanuts.

    Over half of your daily net carbs should be coming from vegetables. It is also wise to eat close to 20 net carbs per day, which is likely to provide you with better nutrition than eating 5 or 10 net carbs. Certain nutrient deficiencies can slow down one's metabolism, therefore interfering with weight loss. So, lettuce and cucumbers is not enough vegetables from a nutritional standpoint... and, unless your salad is huge, you are probably not getting over half of your daily net carbs from vegetables.

    Move to OWL Rung 1 and add more vegetables. Many people find that the more vegetables they eat, the better they lose.

    I would also ditch the peanuts and only add nuts in OWL Rung 3.

      Thanksfor the reply.

      I am 6 foot 5 so it may be a case I'm not eating enough. I'm posting from the uk and most of the cheese here has all the nutritional values displayed to the nearest 0.1g.

      My salads are large as they are for directly after the gym when it's beat to take in protien.

      I don't have any significant muscle mass gain but some lean definition so I
      not gaining weight that way.

      I'll try adding another meal mid afternoon in place of the peanuts. I was eating approx 75g of them at a time

        Are you diabetic? Is that why this post is in this forum? Do you take meds for it?

        Add veggies. You need some more nutrients. Lettuce and cucumber only is not good enough for anyone.

          i've just realised i have posted this int he wrong section. i wonder if any mods can move it for me?

          i drink approximatly 1.5-2 litres of juice a day (sugar free)

          my guilty pleasure is a couple of glasses (0.75l of sugar and carb free fiery ginger beer too

            Well those drinks are not great. I am not sure what sugar free juice is? If it is made with anything but water it is not legal on induction. And then if you add ginger beer on top of that you are in stalling heaven because you are consuming too much artificial sugar. We are limited to three a day. And some of us do better with zero

            Oh and eat your veggies. Or did I already say that?

              With lots of nuts, fruit juice and beer I'm not surprised you are stalled. You are not doing induction or extended induction. That is why you aren't losing. Redo you eating and drinking to match with owl rung 1 and I bet you start seeing the scale drop again.

                I don't know if it's true in the UK, but I know in the US some companies will advertise a product as being "sugar free" when what they really mean is there is no ADDED sugar.

                  You need to review the rules of the diet - juice and nuts are not allowed, you need 3 cups of veggies every day with at least 1/2 of your carbs coming from veggies, you need to eat when hungry and stop eating when no longer hungry...I'm sure if you follow the diet correctly your weight loss will start again.

                    I agree with the other posters---no nuts, juice or ginger beer for now. That's likely why you aren't losing. Darn it all, right? You'll get there tho.

                      Just read the book and follow the rules and you will do just fine !! Make sure you eat enough and don't eat the stuff you aren't supposed to. It is really just that simple !!!
                      It is differant from any other eating plan and you have to really read the book and start from scratch because it is completely differant rules. No carbs, no sugar, no juices. Stuff that is healthy on other plans is not allowed on this plan.

                      Be sure you eat enough, and drink a ton of water !!
                      You will do fine once you figure out what you are supposed to do, it just takes time and you will do great !!

                        what juice is sugar free? do you mean no added sugars? if so that will be an OWL food and may not be legal yet depending on what rung of OWL you are on.
