Re: 3 months gone 52 pound lost - taking a break for one day

Yes I am back on track now, in answer to the question have I read the book, yes I have read the book many times. I've also read various articles relating to hyperinsulinamia and syndrome x etc, to be honest i feel sometimes some people become very hardline about atkins, at the end of the day its a low carb way of eating with different phases, not a religion. Sorry but I got annoyed by someone judging whether I have done atkins or not.

In the past I have "done atkins" 1972 version and lost 6 stone, but it wasnt all fat I know I lost a lot of muscle tissue also because I couldnt workout due to orthopaedic issues. I gained it back so obviously I didnt transition through the phases properly.

I know it takes around 3 days for glycogen stores to deplete to get rid of the cravings, so I know to expect some issues with cravings which I'm using Chromium Picolinate for.

One other observation I made is the one day cheat lifted my mood big time, so the carbohydrate serotonin hypothesis must have some merit I'm wondering is there any merit in using 5htp supplements while on extended induction

My daily menu is as follows

Breakfast - I cant do breakfast at all - I normally take one atkins daybreak bar

lunch - usually consists of 2 burgers without buns some cheese (less than 4 oz)

Dinner - usually an omelette with some form of eitheir sausage or I might have a steak with vegetables

    And thats it

Ive been eating the above everyday for 3 months , now that I look at it written down , it dont look terribly hot

Zac55, how much weight have you lost in the 3 months you have been eating this way?

      Why can't you do breakfast?

          That's awesome, Zac55! That's quite a loss, and I'm happy for you.

I'm still curious as to why you can't do breakfast? The reason I ask is because I've said that very same thing for years.

Re: 3 months gone 52 pound lost - taking a break for one day

I honestly cant face it, its as if my body isnt awake enough to eat or digest, I remember reading in a book called "fit for life" that eating first thing in the morning wasnt good because the metabolism is at its lowest rate first thing in the morning so digestion isnt done at an optimal rate, well thats my excuse but I think it goes back to the days when If I ate in the morning the carb cravings would be fired off.

I remember though a doctor telling me that If you eat in the morning your appetite will be controlled better. But then again what we are talking about is controlling our carbo crazy appetities.

All in all the best thing about low carbing I think is the fact that your appetite comes under control, on a standard low calorie diet I used to be starving all day long and it took massive will power to stay on it

The two best things in nutrition this century have been Dr Robert Atkins and Gary Taubes in my humble opinion

Re: 3 months gone 52 pound lost - taking a break for one day

My problem was that I drank a lot of coffee/caffeine in the morning and it curbed my appetite alot.

I have heard that we should eat our larger meals in the morning and afternoon, and then our lighter meals at night. That has given me good luck when I observe it.
