I saw it before I started Atkins but not since. I've seen some Induction list for foods and I thought by sticking to the string beans I'd keep my carb count down. I'll stop the pepperoni since it's processed. Never thought of it having sugar and sodium. I've cut down the amount of cheese. Very little when I do have some. I only occassionally have a shake or bar. I don't eat them on a reg basis just in case of emergency. I can stop those no problem. Other than that my normal breakfast is eggs and cheese or eggs and bacon for breakfast. I like Frittatas and keep them in the fridge. Easy to heat up in microwave. Meats I keep around are salmon, chicken, beef, pork (occassionally), shrimp, fish. Veggies I keep around are string beans, broccoli, peas. I have cesar salads most times with my lunch or dinner. Sometimes greek salad.
You probably will not find it in the book stores. I got 3 of them at the second hand store, gave 2 to my friends(who are not following it btw and still complaining about being fat) You should look on Amazon. Check the used book section, they are super cheap.

I stayed on induction for 7 months the last time I lost a lot of weight, 130+ pounds. I went off it ans didn't know how to eat, I gained about 70 pounds back. I am back on again since October, I am in OWL now. I had a bit of a stall that turned out to not be one at all, I lost lot of inches during that "stall". I had upped my workout and replaced muscle with fat. Not a bad exchange though.
    35, 5'10 1/2
    start weight 280
    lost 65 pounds
    goal weight 190, for now
I will see if I need a new goal after that one
    25 pounds to go!
    I love my water!

      Re: Stalled

I thought you could stay on induction for a long time. I thought that was what "Extended Induction" was so that's why I was just trying to follow that. I'll have to look up and read about OWL.

I'll try Amazon for the book. Thanks for info.

I'll definately measure myself and see if there is a change. I definately won't mind replacing fat with muscle. If the scale doesn't move but the inches do I'll be a happy camper. That's actually more important than the scale. My clothes are looser and friends are noticing so it is working. I just walk and use eclipse for exercise. Had knee surgery so I'm limited as to what exercises I can do at the moment.

I think you guys are talking about different books. The book followed at ADBB is Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002). The "new one" is The New Atkins for a New You.

What kind of peas? Green peas are not acceptable on Induction.

Eating only a cup of green beans for your vegetables will keep your net carbs from vegetables low, but that's not the point of Induction. In general, the closer you eat to 20 net carbs and the more variety you get from vegetables, the more nutritious your menu will be. By eating only green beans you are cheating yourself of nutrition.

And all you need in order to know how many net carbs you're eating -- no guessing and "thinking", but actually knowing -- is to measure your foods and use an accurate carb counter. You can look up foods in the USDA database:

or use FitDay to track your daily menus:

              Re: Stalled

lol I haven't seen either one at the book store. Is one better than the other? Which one should I get?

I was eating green peas and wasn't losing. That's why I started only eating "string beans" and it made a difference. A friend informed me that peas were not allowed. She used to be on Atkins years ago.

I'm going to check those both out and see which one works for me. It will help a lot. I've already started measuring instead of guessing.

                Thanks

                  Re: Stalled

If you look on the menu bar above, all the way to the right, on the top row, there is a link "Buy the Book" which goes to the Amazon.com website. Right now, there are 675 used from $0.01! They usually charge $3.99 for shipping, so you can get the book for $4.00. No stressing trying to find it in a bookstore and wondering if it's the right version for this board. Just do it!

So we do not follow the 2002 book anymore? I am confused again. This site makes my head spin sometimes... I do follow the 2002 version.

ADBB follows the 2002 edition of DANDR. My reply doesn't say otherwise. But from the OP's comment, my understanding was that she was not talking about the 2002 edition, because that one isn't really "new".
