I was wondering what everyone else thought about the site. I personally think its not reliable because of the way it counts carbs and more of a pain in my butt making me think ive over eaten everyday then its worth...

Is there anything else that is better???

fitday was more of a pain to setup than it was worth to me

Fitday might not be perfect, and a bit of a pain, but all in all, it helps me keep on track, and be accountable for what I eat. When I see it on paper (in this case on the screen) I see exactly what I need more of, or in some cases, less of. I am deligent on completing everything that goes in my mouth daily, and to to see my progress, daily, weekly, monthly. Again, eventhough there are some problems, the positives outweigh the negatives!!! :nod

I actually purchased the software they have for sale, and I think its fantastic. I use it everyday. I find myself entering alot of custom foods. It took me a little bit to get it set up, but once I learned my way around, I really like it.....

Where fitday helped me was with knowing where I was with the protein/fat/carb ratio.
Considering I was eating strictly by the book, I was never too concerned about where my carbs would end up, because they pretty much always fell into place. I needed mostly to know where my balance was and that's where Fitday came in. I can't think of how else I would have figured out the percentages if it weren't for Fitday.

I used swear by Fitday. It really helped me keep track of where I was when I started. It served to remind me how many days I had kept on track and how far I had come. There were certainly times in which I knew it was under or over what it should have been, but it is only a tool or a guide. If you want a strict carb count use the carb counter book.

i dont see how fit day can be a pain when you can use the custom food to put in your food's ingredients that you get from the grocery store. I dont think theres any other way except a notepad and a pen.

Cathy I have been considering buying the programme but have a few questions about it.

Could you tell me if you can carry over by copy/pasting the custom foods from the online account I have set up - or would I have to re-enter them on the bought version?

Could I enter my old statistics - weight and dates I lost weight or would I only be able to track these from the date I bought it?

Can you enter more custom foods that you can on the online version. I find that as I add more online I 'lose' some I haven't ate recently and have to re-enter them if I eat them again, losing other entries in the process.

                Thanks in advance.

Isn't it all relative - like a set of scales?

Recently I had a conversation with someone and they were a bit upset because they thought they had "put on weight" when they converted to the new scales. However, the way I look at it is to look at relatively - don't think that your old scales were giving you the exact weight, just think about one number relative to another - the differences are important

That's how I see Fitday - from the beginning it gave me a figure for carbs that saw me losing weight. Sure, I found it frustrating because there were foods that I ate constantly that I simply could not find in Fitday and had to add as a custom food. but Fitday gave me a figure to start off with for carbs and I increased using the same tool - at the end of the day, does it matter if it is slightly out? Besides, there will never be a tool or calorie counter that would be completely accurate. I mean, one tool will say 1 cup of loosely packed lettuce will give 2g, what is "loosely packed"??? How's that defined?

                  See what I mean?

I love fitday too and have found it indispensible. I would say about 70% of my foods are custom. I don't find it difficult at all. I am curious though to the advantages of the version you pay for though, CathyR!

I love fit day. It works great for me, keeps me on track so I can see what my ratio truly is. A lot of times you have to customize your food, but it stays in your food log if you decide to eat that food again.

                        Give it another shot --

My thing is, that I dont have time to customize everything I eat. Therefor I know the carbs are off on it everytime I use it =(

                          Thanks for everyones input :hug

Fitday is awesome.....Like the others have said, you just have to get used to it, it doesn't take long! I especially like the journal, I'm not much of a writer, but it has honestly helped me write down my thoughts on how I feel, what I should and shouldn't be doing, my measurements, and you can always look back on those dates and see the differences... I think it's pretty cool....and IT"S FREE!!!!

Try out the journal, you would be suprised as to how much you want to say.

I love Fitday! It was a big part of keeping track of my carbs when I first started the diet, as I wasn't used to the number of carbs in foods. I think that it's pretty accurate, actually, I haven't found any problems with their carb counts.

Now that I basically know what and how much I can eat every day, I still use it to keep track of my excersise and weight. I think it's really motivating to look at a report of how my weight has changed in the past 6 months and see the line on the chart climb downwards! :joy
