Perry!! Nice to see you around man!

Yes, big time habit. I went to the gym in my complex tonight. I was zonked this evening, but I just make sure I get there. as long as I make it there I'm fine. I feel like I can tell changes in my body just from a bad eating day or from missing a workout. I'm probably crazy, but that keeps me motivated. I think the belts a little tighter today, then I work out or eat better. That's the big motivation for me. Plus, I don't EVER want to be back to the way I was.

        Re: Maintenance Support thread

sadie and i had a conversation one time about the time we spent doing workouts and being at goal. we both were thinking "do we have to do this 24/7 for the rest of our lives to maintain?". her and i thought we really didn't want to do that. i am glad to hear the 3 or 4 days a week will keep us on top of things.

higgies, maybe that's part of the answer. not wanting to be the previous fat weight. perhaps i should go look at my before picture when i don't feel like doing anything.

btw, i did 40 minutes tonight, thank you very much. who wants to hold me accountable to do 30 minutes on the bike tomorrow? any takers?

          Re: Maintenance Support thread

I've been more or less at goal since 2003, plus or minus a few pounds (see my sig). What's really made the difference for me is setting an exercise/body fat/general fitness and well being goal, rather than just focusing on maintaining my loss. Joining the Si6 challenge has been a huge motivator for me. I'm back reading this page daily and thinking about what I eat again. So I'm with those who say EXERCISE makes all the difference. Mix it up and make it fun. When it gets too easy, mix it up again.

I also think it helps to continue to reward yourself for maintaining, the same way that you did when you were losing weight. Maintaining a loss is a huge deal - many people can't do it. So buy a new outfit in your skinny size, go to the spa, go out to dinner at your favorite low carb restaurant, continue to try new foods and new recipes, etc. etc. Celebrate maintenance and make it fun and it shouldn't feel like a chore or blah doledrums!

            Re: Maintenance Support thread

I'm just like Bikergoddess, I could join a gym, but i just know i'm not going to get up and go in the winter. During my weightloss I was running 5k 3x a week..then that went down too 2 mins 3 x a week while first maintaingl..now? nada. I think I need to replace my running with something different. and I just have to accept the fact that I have to exercise at least 3x a week to maintain..3x I guess isn't bad..I will just need to start something differnt to 'mix it up' maybe.

During weight loss you have something to motivate you to do it...I've found now it seems so much like a chore.

Jimmie maybe it is the lack of exercise that causes the 'down' mood. I've even noticed that I'm even having a VERY hard time getting up in the mornig. I was blaming winter..maybe it's lack of exercise?

I'll hold you accountable for the 30 mins on the bike tomorrow Jimmie..and I'll be doing 30 mins of pilates

I'm really glad I started this thread..It's nice to see we're not alone..I guess it's just all part of the big scheme of this wol that we all have to work through and figure a way around.

              your on girl.
i don't know if you peeked in on stats or not. jack said he was not coming home for an extra day if i didn't do the bike tomorrow. i may have to do 30 minutes for you and 30 minutes for him. if i thought it would hurry things up getting him home i'd do 45.

i will do it. i did a workout tonight. did you?
and did you see perry came in? i was surprised i guess at the folks who have already posted here. we are not alone.

i think you might be right about the getting out of bed and even our depression about this. exercise, i am sure is the key. we know it, we're just not motivated enough to do it.

No..nothing for me last night Jimmie, but I'm committed to today, I've decided I'm also going to try to post in my journal here as well, or maybe start a stats journal..I do have one on LCBB but having one here will help keep me accountable too.

I'm really pleasantly surprised by the great feedback and replies this thread got!

i thought for sure that you would do something yesterday since this thread was started. okay not a problem.

how about today? done anything yet? i have 33 replies to sort through if no one else posts. fat chance! lol
then i will hop on the bike and do at least 30 minutes.

sadie, have you ever done the prestidential award? that might be of help to you. it was good for me but the silver was taking so long that i bogged down.

i'm gonna check in here in a little bit, when i get my bike done to see if you have posted. i'm also going to check out the stats forum.

Yup was swamped with work today, but I did my 30 mins of pilates..was hoping to get some weights in but didn't have time. I may try to do them around 7 or 8 tonight. I'll take the dog out too but it's unlikely i'll run (it's freezing!)..

                                Thanks for starting it, Sadie.

So good to see all you losers again. Maintenance is where it's at! I've finally found a way of eating/living that I can follow for like - forever. I've also learned so much about my body and how it reacts to certain foods that I can attend any party or gathering and enjoy the fixin's with everyone.

Laura, miss our chats in ET mod - that's for sure. Higgs, still looking good! Jo, thanks for the rep points. Wonder feature of the board!
