Heidi, thanks so much for being here!!! You are a very special lady.

What do you think of cyclametes? I take it you get them in Canada? I'm looking in to some sweetener synergy again and am wondering if they are worth the trouble to get some to me? We are in MN, so we've got friends crossing the border frequently.

I've been around a bit, not as much in here as I'm still where I was when I started this thread. Which is FINE, I'm in no hurry I'm finding new thin places all the time too, shoe size changed, bone in wrist, need a belt on some pants, that kind of thing.

In a bit of an energy funk actually, and hope some fun summer stuff will pick me up soon here. Talk to you all

    Hugs
    Denise

I love cyclamates, It's my main sweetener, I prefer it in my coffee as well (i just find splenda too sweet). Up here Sugar twin is made from cyclamates and comes in package, bulk, liquid (carb free) and brown. the other great thing is it's far cheaper than splenda, you can get a box of 100 packets for a couple of dollars, where Splenda is 6 or $7. Like heidi, I like a 1:1 splenda/sugar twin mix for baking.

The liquid is great for baking because it can really bring the carb count down depending on how much sweetener is .

If you have friends going over the border i'd recommend asking them to pick you up a box of packets and some liquid to try. Some grocery stores generic brands are cheaper and are cyclamates too (you need to check the box though to make sure they're not aspartame).

it is so stupid they are not sold in the US!
And you guys get saccharine there and that's not sold here, i don't think anyway. funny how the food adminstrations in two countries can have different opinions of whats 'safe' . I ordered a coffee at dunkin donuts when in the states and they put saccarine in it. I thought i was gonna barf.

Hey maintance friends I am a reall honest to goodness goalie now I hit goal this morning and what a surprise i have been attempting to slow things down but I have hit a point where I'm not that hungry right now and it soo hot and I think this must be an easier weight for me to mobilize pounds at. I actually will not attempt to stop my weight loss if it continues on its own for probably 10 more pounds...I doubt serriously if I am in danger of losing too much!!!!

YYAAAYY Becca! You look amazing, and I hoep you feel great too. My weight loss has flucuated between these last few pounds for a long time, and I'm so glad, it's really letting me experiment and figure out where I need to be. I CAN in fact lose too much...as I can't afford to keep buying new clothes!!!

          Hugs to all!!!

                Re: Need some Maintenance Friends

so how we all doing now? the summer seems to be closing already and I am so bummed makes me wish I could live someplace with a perpetual summer ...but I can not imagine living anywhere but in this beautiful state so I need to not complain!!

this has to be the hardest time of year for me food wise ..because our fruits here are wonderful and I do a lot of baking .... I take great joy in it.....one wonderful thing is that I work with folks who appreciate it so much that I can just take what I make right out the door and watch my darling coworkers eat it ...to me that is as much fun as eating it myself...more so because I get the pleasure or preparing it and absorb none of it!!!

I am about to start another project in the house ...a 70 square foot bathroom ..from scratch ....my own design..this is the third one I have done in this house!!! I have no idea what I am doing as usual but so far two have come out nicely so this one should too ..I am optimistic!

hope all is well with you guys?

Hello Hedi and all other goalie's. Dh and kiddo's and myself went camping with my parents for the weekend. Lots of fun...I am somewhat afraid of overeating all the lovely veggies that are in season especially homegrown tomatoes that mom is now harvesting everyehere..mmm with cottage cheese too mmm. So far weight stable even with lots of fresh veggies and tomatos...of course hiking and biking while camping probably helps too

                    Re: Need some Maintenance Friends

Struggling through the summer here workwise. After a good start have now had two lots of horrors (holiday tenants) in one house. I hope the house will survive five weeks of people who: put some weird kind of colouring agent in the pool, block the sink drains (plumber coming today), keep fusing the electricity, use the bedcovers as sunshades thus fading them in the August sun... well, the list is way longer but I'll just finish this vent by saying that they are downright filthy to boot! And this is in the 'easy' house!

Also having to keep myself in check so as not to overeat the garden veggies which are suddenly sooooooo plentiful. Have tomatoes by the cartload. Zucchinis are good too, and summer cabbage. Melon coming along nicely...

Here in Italy they go heavy on the olive oil along with veggies (cooked or raw)...so have to keep an eye on that too. But... oh, I do love summertime food!

I did not know you could overeat veggies? (well ok you can overeat anything I guess) ...I do not limit them if they are not starchy I eat all I want to! I eat usually 9 servings a day of veggies!!!! I do stop when I am content ..but I eat a lot of them!!!

Well that makes me feel better... I am not stuffing myself but fully enjoying the summer bounty of non starchy vegies. Eating alot of fresh tomatoes too

Yeah... I guess I eat around 8-9 cups veggies a day too. Lunch is usually at least five cups salad... the rest (cooked veggies) spread between breakfast and dinner. Somehow I can't think an overdose of veggies can be anything but good..but... well, so far so good!

                            Re: Need some Maintenance Friends

I'm with heidi on overeating veggies, I really think as long as they're not starchy you're ok..i'm a believer that most of us didn't become overweight by eating too much veggies.

I'm still struggling with 8/10 lbs above goal. I managed to stay at goal for 6 months..then for the past year i've been struggling..I've even put an inch back on on my waist and hips . I had stopped running but started up again in the spring..I'm now running 2.5/3 miles 4x a week, trying to go a bit farther every week..Staying under 35g's carbs..counting calories etc. Not sure what my problem is...

I don't know about everyone else..but i've found maintainance harder than losing weight. I have had the odd treat..very sparingly. Mostly things like a slice of low carb bread, a s/f fudgcicle. I had been doing that for a while..so i'm not thinking it's my problem.

Now i'm jsut being careful with my calories and protein intake, and trying to get in more veggies. Hopefully that helps. Going back to induction never works for me...

                            It's so frustrating and discouraging

easy for me to say right? well seriously when I quit worrying about it was when my wt settled ..as long as I worried I was about 10lbs more ....
I tend to think it is our hormones anyway and there is only so much we can do about that
I fluctuate still I promise but I quit weighing ..feel good clothing and hopefully this is it..if you can not have all the foods you love you will never be happy I think

You konw I actually haven't weighed in months..I think maybe 3? But I know my weight hasn't changed. I actually don't worry too much about the number, as I do the inches. I have clothes that did fit..that no longer do. and my bf % is still in the high 20's so i don't think 10 more lbs is unreasonable..or at least lose the 1" that i've gained? I guess i'm just kind of in a bit of a funk right now..i'm sure i'll come out of it. vacationing over the summer has probably not helped.
